Guest guest Posted January 1, 2003 Report Share Posted January 1, 2003 January is National Oatmeal Month A hot steaming bowl in the morning with a drizzle of honey or syrup, a pat of butter, a shake of cinnamon, maybe a little dried or cut up fresh fruit, and you'll be satisfied for hours, plus you'll be getting the cholesterol lowering benefit of the oat bran. If you have a busy morning ahead of you, you can just boil water and make up a packet or two of the instant variety - just watch that added sugar. If you have plenty of time, or want something a little hardier, use old-fashioned or minute oats. I make mine in the microwave in less than 2 minutes! It takes longer to cool than to cook. Why not experiment with various types and flavors of oatmeal this week - you're bound to find some combination you'll enjoy, and your body will thank you.
