Guest guest
Dear Friend, You are probably aware that India is the recipient in the second round of grants from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria - a sum of US$ 26,116,000 for 2 years for the Project titled " Expansion of effective public and private sector interventions in HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria prevention " and US$ 12,760,000 million for 2 years for the TB component of the Project. This was based on a reapplication seeking to scale up Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission, implement a comprehensive care package for HIV infected mothers, their infants and partners, and enhance access to Antiretroviral treatment through public-private partnerships. I am delighted to inform you that The GF team led by Prof. Feachem will be in India and we are organising a meeting of NGOs with the team at the Conference Hall of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, on March 3, 03 from 2.00 to 4.00 pm. Prof Feacham will be happy to update us on the Fund and respond to any questions that we may wish to ask. Prof. Feachem is the Executive Director of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria and will be accompanied by Purnima Mane, Chief Fund Portfolio Director and Director, South Asia, Middle East, and North Africa, Anil Soni, Adviser to the Executive Director, and Bobby , Director of Massive Effort Campaign, Mobilizing Society Against AIDS, TB and Malaria. Prior to his position at the Global Fund, Dr. Feachem was founding Director of the Institute for Global Health in San Francisco, and Professor of International Health at the University of California, San Francisco and Berkeley. He is also a Visiting Professor at London University. From 1995 until 1999, Dr. Feachem was Director for Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank. Previously, he was Dean of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I look forward to meeting you in Mumbai at TISS. I am sorry that we have no funds for your travel. We will provide you with high tea at the meeting! With best regards, Yours sincerely, Vimla Nadkarni R.S.V.P. Dr. Vimla Nadkarni (vimla@...)
