Guest guest
How long must this go on before people realize that they need to feed their animals REAL FOOD?!?!? Unfortunately my cats won't eat real food. Never would. I can give them meat, etc. and they won't touch it. I've tried over and over and no dice. I end up putting it outside for the strays. Guest guest
Which reminds me....... We might be moving into another apartment in the next two months. We have been offered the position of Apartment Managers. We'll keep our jobs, but pay half rent and no utilities. And, we can have pets. wants a cat, and I get a puppy. So, I remember past discussions about pets, and natural ways to feed them. There was one method that had an acronym, but I can't remember it. If someone does, can they tell me, and I'll search the archives for it? Thanks! Peace, love, laughter Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. > > P.S. Guest guest
Dogs are Carnivores...period..they may do OK with veggies however, they are meat and bone eaters and not classified as omnivores. Whn my dog Valentine was alive I once put a stalk of broccoli and a bone on the floor. He went over and sniffed them and grabbed the broccoli, took it into the other room and proceeded to gnaw away at it. Guess he had been living with me too long;-). Guest guest
B.A.R.F. Bones and raw food (I think that's the acronym). We feed Ziggy raw chicken necks, yes they can have RAW chicken bones. He gets one in the a.m. and then he gets ground up raw turkey or chicken mixed with carrots or whatever veg we have on hand, but usually carrots. Once a week I give him a raw egg, shell and all. Guest guest
This may be true for cats, but dogs are omnivores and do fine with vegetables added to their diets. On 4/16/07, Sharyn E. Guest guest
I would agree, with a stipulation.... Dogs, and most animals in general, are omnivorous. However, they have MUCH shorter digestive tracts, and cannot assimilate complex protiens. The majority of " veggie stuff " that they would get in their natural, wild state is from the stomachs and bowels of thier prey. This is already " pre-digested " . Not chemically altered as in pet foods sold on the market, or loaded with corn, which even we humans with our longer/larger digestive tracts have a hard time digesting. And I agree, many animals are just fine with veggies, depending on the animal and the type of veggies. I feel I can make this statement with some measure of confidence, as I worked for many years when I was younger for a pet/animal/farm feed industry, and was encouraged to attend seminars, take classes with certification, etc, on animal nutrition. Guest guest
- I agree with you. If you check out Ziggy's poop you will see whole chunks of carrots and pieces of cashews. But it helps with the clean up as the crows come and dine! Shari

Guest guest
Had a Kuvasz that ate blackberries off the vine and Ziggy, the Welsh corgi is not allowed in the raspberries alone and I had to put a fence around the tomatoes! Aren't they a trip? I used to have a dog that would eat anything! I did an experiment to see if I could find anything he WOULDN'T eat. I tested almost everything in the fridge and finally found one. Jello! Ho wouldn't eat jello. That was the only thing I copuld come up with. My one cat eats Morningstar farms veggie burgers and steamed broccoli. He's dragged them off my plate more than once. Lays on the floor and devours them. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Guest guest
Thanks, Suzi. Now to do some digging in the archives. If I'm not back soon, send out a search party. Or is that a dinner party? I always get those two confused. Peace, love, laughter What happens if you get scared half to death twice? --- In health , Suzanne <suziesgoats@...> wrote: > > BARF!!!!!! Congrats!
