Guest guest
Your description rather fits me, too. I'm the one who reduced myself to 5 mg from 10 mg (and that was already down from 20 mg). Keep posting on your experience, ok? Thanks. Hmmm > I keep wondering if this med is for me. I feel very sedate - I mean > I'm calm and I don't panic, but Celexa seemed to make me " happier " > and worked so well on the depression. Yesterday I went down from 5 mg > to 2.5. I hope it helps. Guest guest
Anyone in this group ever heard of/used a coffee enema? Did it work for you? A co-worker of mine used to get them daily. She had lymphoma/cancer and coffee enemas were the only thing that would give her some pain relief. What do you mean...did it work? What is the problem and what are you hoping it will do? Guest guest
Candace - I've never had one but I know a couple of chiropractors that advocate them. From what I understand, you must use caffeinated coffee, mixing one cup of coffee with I believe one or two cups of warm water. I have a " recipe " around here somewhere. Once you give yourself the enema you're supposed to get down on hands and knees and stick your hiney in the air - supposedly when the caffeine in the coffee hits a certain nerve or blood vein it causes the liver to immediately dump toxins. I know quite a few people that use them and swear by them. At 10:32 PM 6/21/2007, you wrote: Anyone in this group ever heard of/used a coffee enema? Did it work for you? Guest guest
From what I understand, you must use caffeinated coffee, I know when my co-worker got them, her husband would administer them. He gave me a run down on how he did it and I forget most of it but he did specify a certain type of organic coffee he had to order for the enemas. Some name I never heard of. Guest guest
Hey Candace! I've heard of them... supposedly they work.. but never tried one...somehow putting coffee into your system that way just didn't appeal to me... lol. Guest guest
My mom said she heard a coffee enema works wonders for emptying out your colon. Was wondering if that's true/if it has worked for anyone on here. More than likely ANY kind of enema will help with constipation. However they can create a dependency as the bowels usually clog up again the next day or so and you need another enema to clean them out again. Coffee enemas are used to stimulate the liver and encourage it to dump toxins. Also, eating a bowl of warm stewed prunes (with the juice) can do wonders. I resorted to that last year when I was constipated for 2 days (very unusual for "regular" me) . It did the trick within an hour. Fortunately I love stewed prunes! They are my first choice when it comes to constipation. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
I have tried regular ole water enemas and it didn't do squat. All I got to come out was dirty water. Maybe the cramping would be a good thing for me! If you're so clogged that an enema isn't doing the trick, you might need to take something orally to soften the stool. The time I was severely constipated and in pain I took 2 tsp. of castor oil (straight!..I was desperate). I then ate a big bowl of juicy warm stewed prunes, as I mentioned before. Within an hour I miraculously exploded and was on the toilet half the night. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Dairy, salt, sugar, meat, and wheat (bread, pasta, etc...) are all constipating. Pretty much anything that's not fruit or vegetable in their natural state are constipating whether it happens to you or not. The reason being anything cooked needs extra water to digest and if you don't drink enough (MORE than what you think is enough) it will pull the water from other parts of your body and one of those parts are your intestines. That makes the food hard and your guts dry, that makes things really hard to "move"! If you can't fast or change your eating habits, try drinking Smooth Move tea from Traditional Medicines. Always worked for me. Shari
Guest guest
Wonder why people keep asking me if I'm constipated today. LOL Question: I've been snackin on prunes throughout the evening (and drinking a LOT more water than I normally do) Nothin has been happening. Is there something about prune juice or stewed prunes that speeds up the process? And.... strange thing.... when I'm really plugged up the first place it hurts is my left side. Well this morning I made 4 GINORMOUS "deposits" and now my left side seems to hurt WORSE than when I was plugged. Think that could mean something is wrong or it's just used to being lazy and this is too much of a workout????? Everywhere else I feel much much better. This is the first day I've had energy in... I can't remember how long. Either way I'm not letting it off the hook. And... I hadn't had prunes since I was probably 7 years old. I had forgotten how delicious they are! Guest guest
That is your colon on the left side towards the front... try some slippery elm gruel to soothe the lining or turkey rhubarb. Turkey Rhubarb: Laxative, eases stomach pain, antibacterial, hepatic, removes irritating substances, stimulates, cleanses and tones the alimentary and intestinal areas. Slippery Elm: Healing, soothing, lung, mucus membrane, sore throat. Candace P <candaceandbrock@...> wrote: Wonder why people keep asking me if I'm constipated today. Guest guest
It is common for the left side to have pain from impactions. The large intestine starts on the lower right, travels straight up, bend and heads to the left just below the rib cage, bends again and heads down on the left, does an “S” turn called the sigmoid colon and connects to the rectum. If you’ve had an impaction for a while it makes sense that the place it was held up at is sore and stretched out a bit. Keep eating the prunes and lots of clean water and fiber-rich foods. If the pain does not ease in a few days, then there may be a chance you have developed another problem, possibly diverticulitis. My guess is that you will feel lots better in a few days though. Guest guest
If you read up on cascara sagrada it doesn't just make you have bowel movements. It heals and strengthens the what-ever-they-ares in the bowels so eventually your body will move stuff along on its own. And that is the goal. To let your body do what it was originally designed for.
