Guest guest
Dear Forum, I am not so sure what anti-globalisation means in the context of WSF. I saw an article here in a Hyderabad newspaper yesterday about it being nothing but a talk shop of political correctness, drumming and anti-globalisation sloganising. This was not my experience at the WSF. I heard a great deal of interesting and reasoned argument and analysis. For me the Rainbow Alliance session was an important, innovative and moving scene of an emerging coalition of gays, lesbians, sex workers and hijras. In my short presentation on HIV prevention programming and sex work I praised the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and contrasted its' enlightened approach with the retrograde policies of the USA, the UN, bilateral and multilateral donors and national governments. There was no adverse reation or sloganising about Gates and many people asked insightful questions. Congratulations India. It was excellent.
