Guest guest
Yes, if you read the back of an Epsom Salt box it will say it is used as a laxative. Guest guest
I think all this talk about prune juice and castor oil got my colon scared. I went 4 times before I left work last night. This is wonderful news! I couldn't bear thinking of you putting up with that for another day. Maybe you should still get the prunes and see if you can get even more out of there. Three weeks is a lot of junk! Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Guest guest
LOL I think all this talk about prune juice and castor oil got my colon scared. I went 4 times before I left work last night. The last one was huge and I feel much much better. Its not off the hook though. ha ha ha Candace Re: Castor oil I'm also going to the store to get some prunes after I get off work. When I get home I'm gonna try the coffee enema. One way or another.......I walk a lot and have a rebounder trampolene. Haven't had the energy to use it lately but I still walk a lot.I know I was only constipated for 2 days but I was in such pain and so freaked I pulled NO STOPS. I would take some castor oil, followed by a HUGE bowl of warm stewed prunes and get on the trampoline and jump your heart out. If it doesn't work within an hour, repeat the whole procedure again. If THAT doesn't work, first thing tomorrow morning make an appt. for a colonic. Meanwhile I wouldn't eat anything except something designed to get those bowels open (prunes, homemade juice etc.) You don't want any more clog in there.Gloria **************************************See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Candace, can you try doing a water fast for a couple days or at least a day? If not, try juice fasting with the same juices throughout to help your body to heal itself. Suzi What is a weed? Guest guest
Not sure why you want to use caster oil Liz -for constipation? Tanner's pediatric gastroenterologist said to avoid harsh stimulants like caster oil and here is why from Medscape: " Discussion. Intestinal regularity is an elusive goal for many Americans. The numerous reasons for this include insufficient fluid intake, lack of exercise, travel, and a low-fiber diet. Patients often resort to harsh stimulant laxatives (e.g., bisacodyl, oral sodium phosphate/biphosphate, magnesium hydroxide, castor oil, sennosides) that force a drastic evacuation of solid, semisolid, or liquid stool. These products can deplete body fluids, leading to electrolyte imbalance, and their consistent use can lead to laxative dependence. " http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/436630_6 Here are other links on this from a birthing site and a cancer site: Castor oil is considered safe in proper doses for conventional uses as a laxative. However, side effects can include abdominal pain or cramping, colic, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Long-term use of castor oil can lead to fluid and electrolyte loss. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should not use castor oil, nor should people with intestinal blockage, acute inflammatory intestinal disease, appendicitis, or abdominal pain. Medicines that are dissolved in or based on castor oil compounds can cause allergic reactions. Castor beans are extremely poisonous and can kill people or animals if chewed or swallowed. Also, handling the seeds can lead to allergic reactions. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ETO/content/ETO_5_3X_Castor_Oil.asp Why does a castor oil induction work? Castor oil stimulates the bowels in the same way an enema would. For some unexplained reason, when the bowel is stimulated to empty in this way, the uterus is also stimulated to empty. A study in Alternative Therapies, January 2000, reported that 57.7% of the mothers given castor oil began labor in the specified time period while only 4.3% of the mothers not given castor oil went into labor. 2-6 Hours after drinking the castor oil, the mother will experience diarrhea and should begin contractions.* *NOTE:| Please be aware that use of castor oil orally will result in some unpleasant side effects. Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are common in castor oil inductions and are not only uncomfortable during labor but can cause the mother to become dehydrated. Be sure the mother who tries this is drinking enough fluids. Some experts recommend using an enema, which they feel will give the similar results with less discomfort. http://www.birthingnaturally.net/cn/technique/castor.html If you want me to repost the constipation archive let me know =====
