Guest guest
Hello Friends Just had a question, and wondered if anyone had any experience with any of this - I have always had problems with my cycle. It' snever, ever been regular, or normal, ever since I started when I was 13. I had a battery of tests about 2 years ago for polycystic ovary syndrome, but never had an ultrasound. Testosterone, insulin etc. All tests came back in normal ranges, maybe a slight elevation in testosterone, but nothing anyone was worried about. I still thought there was a problem. I went on the pill, (again, after a 2 year hiatus, went 5 years on, 2 years off, then they put me back on) to regulate my cycle. Worked just fine, but as with before, the pill caused migraines and all sorts of other issues. SO..off I went. Lately, I've been all screwy. In September of 2005, I resorted to the Morning AFter PIll, and since then have been MORE screwy. I have gone one bout of 6 months without my period, took some herbs, and had acupunture and got it back, about every 3 months, then every month for about 6 months. Currently I have not had it since mid-march, and have been feeling (as I did when I went 6 months without) like I am CONSTANTLY PMSing. I feel emotional, empathetic, irritable, and bloated. And more recently, I've been feeling like I've got deep hip pain....I wonder and feel like they are all related. It's deep inside, not the usual ache or hip irritation, but deep inside towards my belly. I get sharp aches, but right now, they are dull aches on both sides. Same ache in my low, low back. Above my sacrum. I'm starting to stress out about this, and just wondered if anyone had any insights. THanks so much friends, and enjoy the beginning of summer! Guest guest
Have you been checked for ovarian cysts?... How old are you ? when did your mom grandma etc go thru menopause? Do you take magnesium? Calcium? Do you drink much caffeine? How's the sugar intake? Salt? Guest guest
Hi Suzi, No, no check for ovarian cysts. Back when I had the tests done (2 years ago) I was getting very regular pap smears and pelvic exams though, palpation and all. I even went in once with pain, and they told me i was just ovulating. I am 27 as of last friday, Mom is now 53 and was perimenopausal around 50. Not sure with my nana. Neither one have had ANY menstrual problems, or even issues with Menopause. My grandmother swears it just happened and she didn't realize it. mom has been having hot flashes though and night sweats pretty badly. I take a Cal/Mag supplement, but not regularly. I drink coffee probably 1-2 times per week if that, and mostly herbal or green tea when I do have it. I drink mainly water with lemon/lime and some watered down fruit juice. I've been cutting down salt in my diet and am very cautious about sodium intake, have had borderline HBP for a few years. I do have quite a sweet tooth, but try to limit it to fruits etc. I do have sweets a couple times a week. Thanks Suzi! The hip pain has gone away now, am feeling less emotional. I swear, I have ovulation or Menstrual symptoms, but no menses.
Guest guest
This is what I've found so far. It is possible for ovulation to occur without bleeding. As you already know, the most common condition in which this happens is pregnancy; if you ovulate and conceive, you will probably not bleed that month. Less common are abnormalities of the uterus or vagina in which a blockage prevents bleeding from occurring. Such abnormalities are typically present from birth -- for instance, a woman may be born with normal ovaries but no uterus, and thus can ovulate but obviously not have periods. Asherman's syndrome, or intrauterine adhesions, may also prevent menses in the presence of normal ovulation. This condition is associated with scarring in the uterus that results in complete failure of the endometrium (uterine lining). If the endometrium fails to develop in response to the hormone changes of ovulation, there is no tissue to be shed, and no bleeding will occur. Asherman's syndrome is a rare complication that may occur after infection or after a D & C (a medical procedure that involves scraping the inside of the uterus). In general, though, when you skip a period, it most likely means either that you are pregnant or that you have not ovulated. Let me correct one thing that you said in your question. First, you do not produce an egg each cycle. The eggs are already there. In fact, they were all produced by 20 weeks of your mom's pregnancy. You can only lose eggs each month. In fact, each month 100-200 eggs enter the race to be the one or two selected to ovulate. If the hormones are just perfect, one egg's follicle will be stimulated to enlarge. Estrogen levels will rise, causing the uterine lining to thicken in hopes that a fertilized egg will arrive for implantation. If this hormonal symphony is out of alignment or there are no eggs ready at that moment, you will not ovulate and ultimately not have a period. Is this due to age? Well, that is a likely consideration. A measurement of the FSH blood level on the third day of your cycle will give clues as to whether these skipped cycles are harbingers of menopause. Guest guest
- Do you carry excess weight and/or a lot of weight around your middle? Do you have abnormal hair growth on your face, like a man would have a mustache or five o'clock shadow? Have you ever tried to get pregnant and didn't succeed? At 08:40 PM 7/10/2007, you wrote: This is what I've found so far. It is possible for ovulation to occur without bleeding. Guest guest
Hi , I never used to, but in the last few years, have gotten more hair on my chin, but nothing like true hirsutism (Spelling?). I do carry ALL of my weight around my middle, like a guy. So....FYI - I started spotting today, we'll see. Pain is gone, but have been SUPER emotional for the last bit.
