Guest guest
Hello, I have a pine tree in a large pot inside. I bought it when it was very little about 12 years ago. It has grown healthy and beautiful. During the last time I have noticed that it's dropping some branches. One thing is that now and then a dry branch falls, but lately I find green branches on the floor. The tree continues green and doesn't have any sign of having any problem. I wonder if there is any kind of plant food or something that I can give it. Is there anyone who can help me, please? Thank you, Tat
Guest guest
Maybe it is root-bound. I assume that a 12-yr old tree would need a bigger area for its roots than any pot would supply. Probably over the years all the nutrients in the soil have been leached out. Before you add any type of fertilizer to it, take a sample to your local county extension office (or you can mail a sample if there is not one close to you), and have them test it. They will tell you exactly what the soil needs. Don’t just throw miracid, or any other chemical, on it when you don’t even know what the problem is. Guest guest
Hello, Thank you for the suggestions to help my Pine tree. Before putting anything in practice I suddenly realized that despite of watering all my plants periodically, the soil of the Pine tree was too dry. I wonder if this can be due to the drought in Florida even though the tree is inside. I gave it the double of water and it didn't drop any more leaves. The other plants and trees seem to do well with the same amount of water. So I'm going to be checking. Again, thank you. Tat Re:Pine tree help Maybe it is root-bound. Guest guest
Tat, where are you in Florida? We have one avocado which isn’t happy, seemingly no matter how much water we give it.
