TIPS FOR FAIR COMPLEXION

INTRODUCTION:

Pigmentation is a disorder of skin complexion and colour. It occurs mainly due to the malfunctioning of the endocrine glands and the liver, and exposure to the sun's rays. The pigmentation problem occurs as either an excessive colouration or darkening of the skin or a loss of colour and pigment in the skin, over the entire body or just in patches and spots.

Dark skin can be an irritation for people who want a fair complexion. Though a lot of people have naturally dark skin, darkening of skin could also be due to hyperpigmentation and various other reasons. A dark colored skin has more of skin pigment Melanin, as compared to a fair skin. Unfortunately, increased quantity of melanin can cause the skin to look blemished and patchy.

CAUSES OF DARK SKIN:

The causes of a dark skin or complexions are as follows:

*Heredity:

People who have a dark skin often have children who are dark-skinned too. The genes seem to pass on from generation to generation.

*Hyperpigmentation:

In this condition the skin produces too much of the pigment melanin, causing the skin to become darker than usual.

*Skin disorders:

Conditions such as Lichen Simplex Chronicus are a skin disorder that causes severe itching that leaves the skin thick, dark and patchy.

*Sun rays:

Over exposure to sun causes the skin to tan. This is a natural mechanism, wherein to protect itself from the harmful UV rays of the sun, the skin produces more of the pigment melanin which shields the penetration of UV rays into the skin.

HERBS FOR FAIR COMPLEXION:

To get a fair skin, a person can follow the below herbal tips. These include:

ROSE:

This is a popular herb for dark skin. Rose oil is a cooling agent and is excellent for tired skin. It is a good source of vitamins C and E. Rose oil has a very pleasant fragrance to it. It removes dead cells from the skin, and provides relief from burns. It slows the aging process and balances the skin's chemistry. Rose oil is used for cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and nourishing of the skin.

ALOE VERA:

This is an excellent herb for dark skin. Aloes has been in use for over 7,000 years. Aloes is anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and is extremely effective in treating several skin disorders. It is an effective moisturizer and helps in anti-aging, cleansing, and softening the skin. Aloes inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase which is responsible for skin discoloration. Aloes removes dead skin cells and stimulates formation of new cells, tightening of the skin, and making the skin look young.

SANDALWOOD:

This is best home remedy for dark skin. Sandalwood is one of the most expensive, most exotic, and most aromatic plants known to humans. Sandalwood has a use in treating most skin problems. It is a cooling agent, stimulant, and blood purifier. It protects skin from the sun's rays, acts an anti-aging agent, and keeps skin smooth and aromatic. Sandalwood is extremely effective on pimples, prickly heat, skin erruptions, itching, rashes, spots, freckles, and swellings.

TURMERIC OR HALDI:

This is a wonderful home remedy for dark skin. Protects skin from atmospheric pollution, wrinkles and bacteria. Haldi is commonly used in skincare preparations and treats pimples, acne and black heads. It helps prevent and slow the growth of unwanted superfluous hair.

JYESTHAMADHA :( LIQUORICE GLYCERRIZA):

This is also a popular herb for dark skin. Jyesthamadhu has been in use since the time of

Roman Empire. Hippocrates recommended this root as an expectorant and carminative. For skin it is particularly used as a facial, and as a dressing for wounds to expedite healing.

Manjishta (Rubia Cord folia):

This is the most useful herb for dark skin. The root of the Manjishta plant is widely used in treating pimples, reducing wrinkles, improving complexion, treating burns, healing injuries, and Lessing inflammation, swellings, spots, and scales.

Almond Oil (Amygdalus Communis):Almond oil is an emollient, anti-pruritic, and laxative. It makes a very good nourishing skin cream. Its smooth massaging action on the skin helps reapair degenerated dead skin cells and removes superficial hair. It is very useful for softening the skin and is the best base oil for any kind of massage. This oil is used in preparing body massage oils, creams, lotions and moisturizing products.

SIMPLE HOME REMEDY TIPS FOR FAIR COMPLEXION :

The dark skin persons can follow the below tips to get a fair complexion.

*Mix 1 tsp of milk powder, 1 tsp of honey, 1 tsp of lemon juice, and ½ tsp of almond oil. Apply on face and wash off after 10-15 minutes. This pack helps bring shine to the skin and also removes tan.

*Mix oatmeal with curd and tomato juice and apply on the face. Keep it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. It helps remove the tan and lightens the skin.*Place sliced raw potato on the face. It helps reduce blemishes and other marks.

*Applying turmeric powder along with lime juice removes the tan. Lime juice is a natural bleach.*Dried orange peels mixed with curd also help reduce blemishes and scars. Wash off this mixture with cold water after 15 minutes.

*Soak 4 almonds overnight. Grind into a fine paste using milk. Apply on face and neck and leave it overnight. Wash with cold water in the morning. Do this daily for 15 days, followed by twice a week.*A tbsp of gram flour mixed with 2 tsp of raw milk and 2-3 drops of lime juice works well for lightening dark skin. Apply this mixture and leave it for 15 minutes before washing off. Repeat for 4 weeks and follow up with once a week.

*Apply a paste of fresh ground mint leaves and leave it for about 20 minutes. Wash with cold water, continue for 15 days.Do's and Don'ts for dark skin:

To obtain a fair skin, a person must follow the below tips.These are:

* Include one green leafy vegetable at least once a day.

*Include curd and paneer generously.

*Have a Vitamin B complex capsule plus a livogen capsule - at least for a month. These are harmless and have proved quite effective in a number of cases.

*Do not use cosmetics that have colouring agents. Avoid make-up, or make it minimum. Use a sun block lotion before going out.

*Avoid using oral birth control drugs and sleeping pills.

*Avoid distress and anxiety as much as possible. Meditate for at least 15 minutes a day.

*Apply a mixture of grated tomato with 2-3 drops of lime juice on the face. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing off. Do this twice a day for 15-20 days for best results.

*Apply a paste of whole wheat flour with vinegar to remove freckles and dark spots.

*Rub papaya or paw on the face for oily skin.

*Mix aloe vera gel, honey and egg yolk. Apply to face and let it dry for a few minutes then wash with warm water.

DIETRY TIPS:

Diet is a quiet effective remedy for all diseases. A balanced diet definitely helps by giving our skin a healthy glow.Such as:

*Avoid excessive consumption of heavy and oily foods.*Incorporate whole cereals, pulses, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.

*Drink at least 4-5 liters of water every day. Water washes out the toxins from the body.VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS FOR DARK SKIN:

*Use a good quality sunscreen when going out in the sun to protect the skin from tanning as well a thesun'sUVrays.

*Be regular and persistent with the home remedies for skin lightening as suggested above.
