Guest guest
Stevia Herb Stevia grows like a shrub and weed in Central and South America. Stevia is a natural herbal sweetener, claiming to be 50-60 times sweeter than sugar by some and 200-400 times sweeter than sugar by others. It has no calories, and the shelf life is indefinite. One tablespoon of Stevia is suppose to be equal to 1 cup of sugar. It is believed to be safe for diabetics, hypoglycemics and Candida sufferers. Clinical studies indicate that Stevia is safe to use even in cases of severe sugar imbalance. It has been found to be non-toxic and safe. This green Stevia leaf is not a substitute for sugar in your favorite cake mix but rather a lovely thing to add to your herbal tea blends. The white powdered extract can work for other recipes. Wilderness Family Naturals has both available by the pound. Suzi What is a weed? Guest guest
Hi Shari, This is pretty funny - the lady I get mine from is also mainly a lavendar grower! Same person? Western NY? The stevia seeds from that link you sent say it grows to 30 " - mine grew to be about 5' tall! I don't remember what variety it was, I'll have to wait until next spring when I get another one from her. Carol www.bluegreensolutions.com > > I have one lady at our farmer's market who grows a few. She's mainly a lavendar grower, but I think she actually grew some this year just for me! She starts from seeds, but won't tell me her supplier. I've not seen it in seed form, yet. We now have a greenhouse so I'm excited to see if I can winter one over in there or start some in there. > > Found this with Google: http://seedrack.com/09.html Just scroll down past titty fruit, honest Guido that's what they call it! > > Shari >
Guest guest
Nope, Pacific Northwest. I'm north of Seattle. And mine has never grown more than about 30". Shari
