Guest guest
Gloria, had a smooth fox terrier , Ronnie. One day after a big shopping trip I couldn't find the bag of brocholli that I knew I had bought. On looking further, I found Ronnie in his bed with all of the brocholli, happily muching away. All of my dogs do enjoy a limited amount of veggies..I have one who loves salades but the fact remains..they are classified as carnivores...they have the dental structure of carnivores, they are 99.9% the same as wolves...wolves are carnivores. A Species Appropriate Diet for a carnivore is meat and bones. Anne Anne
Guest guest
I had a pug once that loved tomatoes ;-) The one I had that loved broccoli also loved grapes and oranges. He'd go wild when he saw me peeling an orange. He usually got half and I got half. With the grapes he used to love to catch them as I threw them in the air. I'd cut them in half so they couldn't get stuck in his throat. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
They do, but they don’t *need* them. Sharyn From: health [mailto:health ] On Behalf Of ~* vV *~ This may be true for cats, but dogs are omnivores and do fine with vegetables added to their diets. Guest guest
that’s great you got such an offer. Please check the place out thoroughly and really talk this through with Marilyn. The reason I say this is because we have lived in our complex for 10 years now and have had 12-14 couples through here as managers, some of them without outside jobs. It can be a very annoying job to take on so be sure you are ready for that. If you do decide to take it do not get the pets right away, settle in first. If you need to call it quits or you find you have enough on your plate without the added responsibility of pets then it will be easier. Good luck! We might be moving into another apartment in the next two months. We have been offered the position of Apartment Managers. We'll keep our jobs, but pay half rent and no utilities. And, we can have pets. wants a cat, and I get a puppy. So, I remember past discussions about pets, and natural ways to feed them. There was one method that had an acronym, but I can't remember it. If someone does, can they tell me, and I'll search the archives for it? Thanks! Peace, love, laughter Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. > > P.S. Dogs and cats have NO NEED for brown rice or green peas anyway!!!!

Guest guest
Gloria, I think all animals, carnivores or not, need some fiber to push the meat, which has no fiber, along the digestive tract. Even birds need greens. A caged bird should have some sort of green along with its seeds. Most dogs and cats, I know my cats, have to have grass of sorts to be able to pass their hair ball naturally. If your dogs go outside at all, You may have noticed them chewing in the lawn. They need that. My old cat is over 20 yrs old now and has never had problems with hair balls until just recently. She always went for a walk with me daily to get her grass. For the past few months it has been pretty cold for the most part and I have been having RA flares and not taking her outside. She left a mess of hairball on my carpet the other day. never happened before. My 2 year old cat is out every day and never has a hairball problem as he does the grass nibbling daily. Even in the cold north, birds will dig under snow to get what greens they can. I always saw to it that my caged birds got their greens, (NOT ICE BURG LETTUCE) plain grass, spinach or endive or dandelion. Most any green plant for them. Actually, vegetables/greens, grains, are the only way they can get fiber. OK..I'll hush now..I don't mean to be argumentive, but but for the sake of our animals, I hope all in this thread will consider this.
