Today Elaina's newsletter (www.purejoyplanet.com---her website, but

not sure if the newsletter is there)shared the following on greens

with recipes too:

Alkalize and Green Up Your Life!

We all know that green food is good for us, but why? Greens are the

most alkalzing of all plant foods. Alkaline food means that it helps

to raise the Ph level to around a 7 in your body. The body needs to

remain alkaline to stay alive, so this is a good thing! When acid

foods are consumed such as meat, bread, dairy, packaged foods,

pasta, most white foods, potatoes, sugar, caffeine and alchohol, our

bodies form an acid condition(around 4.5-6.5 ph) and disease begins

to manifest in the form of colds, flus, arthritis, weak backs, poor

digestion, cancer, diabetes, etc., etc. Your blood, needing to

remain at an alkaline state of around 7.2 will actually steal

minerals in the form of calcium, potassium, magnesium, etc. from

the bones in order to keep the body alive! Imagine that? Your body

is so smart, it will do anything to survive, including tearing apart

parts of itself (think of a wolf chewing off a paw to become free).

Well freedom is way easier than that! EAT YOUR GREENS!!!!! Green

food comes in all shapes, sizes, flavors and textures. Green salads

are a good place to start. Eat at least 2 green salads a day. Make

sure you eat a vairety of greens such as kale (vey high in

alkalinity and calcium), celery, Romaine, spinach, arugula, red leaf

lettuce, mezuna, lambs quarters, and dandelion just to name a few.

And be sure to use a tasty raw food dressing, or high quality olive

or flax oil on it. Another way and one of my favorites is green

juice. Buy a good juicer such as the Green Star or a Champion Juicer

to make your own, fresh pressed vegetable juice using lots of

celery, cucumber and kale. Deeeelicious! Next you can blend your

greens with fruit for a tasty smoothie. Try a large mango (or any

fruit) with 3 cups of spinach (or any green) with 1 cup of water and

a few ice cubes. Blend and drink the most amazing, refreshing,

energizing fuel your body has ever had the pleasure to gulp down.

Another way to eat your greens is in the form of a soup. Try a tasty

green energy soup. Start with 2 large handfuls of greens, maybe a

tomato or 1/2 an apple, juice of 1/2 a lemon, 1/2 bunch of basil,

dill or cilantro, 1 ripe avocado and 1-2 cups water. Add some spice

too like salt, cayenne, cumin, curry, Italian or anything that

sounds good to you. I love onion powder in my green soups. Blend

until creamy and adjust taste as desired.

A shortcut to alkalzing your body with greens is to take green

powders. One of my personal favorites is Vitamineral Greens. You

just stir it in some water, or blend it in a smoothie and you've got

a meal! For variety, you can also try Greener Grasses or Blue Green

Algae Flakes.

Voila! Now you are a greens expert. Go Forth and Green up your life!

P.S. Alkaline people are usually a lot of fun to be around, so feel

free to spread that joy everywhere you go! Elaina Love---
