Homeopathic Remedies What is homeopathy? Homeopathy is a system that seeks to cure in accordance with natural laws of healing and uses medicines made from natural substances: animal, vegetable, and mineral. These remedies are prepared in such ways that they are nontoxic and do not cause side effects. It is said a child can swallow a whole bottle and suffer no ill effects. And the remedies are available at a fraction of the cost for most prescription drugs.

Homeopathic remedies are typically presented in the form of very small pills, no bigger than poppy seeds in many cases. Each pill may only contain several molecules of the medicine it is carrying. Interestingly, the more the underlying constituent is diluted, the more powerful the remedy. Homeopathic kits typically contain 50-75 small, labeled vials in a small box. The kits are small enough to carry in a (large) purse and are ideal for traveling since virtually any ailment can be addressed. Click here to order a homeopathic kit (link to follow!). The areas that homeopathic remedies can help include: Accidents & Emergency Cases, the prevention and treatment colds,

coughs and earaches, stomach and bowel problems, women’s health, pets health, men’s health, headaches and allergies. The most effective way to use homeopathic remedies is to observe the symptoms closely and apply the most closely related remedies. In that I suggest you always keep a good homeopathic book available at home for emergency use. The top two to the right are two that I rely on extensively. The list below is a short list of the homeopathic remedies that I have found to be most beneficial. Aconite is produced from monkshood. It is useful in the early stage of inflammation or fever and is indicated by the sudden onset of violent symptoms, especially after exposure to dry, cold wind. The patient who needs Aconite is fearful, restless, and thirsty for cold drinks. Antimonium will benefit a person who has bronchitis and a wheezing cough; mucus in the chest makes a rattling bubbling sound as if the patient were drowning in his own secretions. He or she is pale, has a cold sweat, and looks sick. Arnica should be the first remedy which comes to mind when treating a contusion. Arsenicum album is the most frequently needed remedy for stomach upsets, vomiting or diarrhea, especially when caused by food poisoning. Belladonna is used when a person is flushed, hot and restless. The symptoms are of a sudden onset and violent. The person may have a fever, sore throat, headache or earache. Bryonia Alba is suggested when a person who is irritable and wants to be left alone. He or she also seems to feel worse from even the slightest movement and is very thirsty. Calcarea phosphorica maybe used to broken bones and children having difficulty teething. It is made from phosphate of lime. Cantharis relieves the frequent, painful urination that occurs in cystitis. It also alleviates the pain of burns and scald. Carbo vegetabilis is known as the “great reviver” and it helps the person who is on the verge of collapse or whose vitality is low after an illness.

Chamomilla is helpful for anyone who is oversensitive to pain, particularly when suffering from a toothache. Ferrum phos. is a remedy made from phosphate of iron. It helps in the early stage of all inflammatory problems, including head colds, earache, cough, pneumonia, bronchitis, pleurisy, and rheumatism. Hepar sulphuris calcareum should be suggested for localized inflammation, laryngitis, sore throat, and a boil to a head. Ignatia amara. Ignatia is the grief remedy for the person who doesn’t recover from an emotional upset such as disappointment or anger; patient sighs very frequently. Hypericum perfoliatum is known as “ the Arnica of the nerves.” Hypericum is made from St. ’s wort, and would be used instead of Arnica when certain contusion doesn’t respond to Arnica. Hypericum is often used for injuries involving nerves such as

fingertips, toes, spine, palms, or soles. Ledum Palustre is a remedy for bee stings, insect bites, puncture wounds, sprained ankle and possibly even eye injuries. Magnesia phosphorica is known as the “homeopathic aspirin”, you would use the remedy to ease any spasmodic pain that is relieved by warmth, such as leg cramp, menstrual cramps, or colic. Nux vomica is known as the “hangover remedy”. Phosphorus is for a person who may need has laryngitis, a chest cold, hemorrhaging. Ruta graveolens should be used if Arnica fails to relieve a bruise. Sulphur is the remedy homeopaths recommend for skin disease that causes dry, itchy skin. Veratrum Album is when a person feels faint and has a cold sweat while diarrhea and vomiting occur simultaneously. Veratrum album is the remedy used in most cases of heart exhaustion. Aha, thanks Sharyn. We've taken homeopathic remedies for years but I didn't realize vibration was so important. That must be why my intuitive vibrates the bottle when she makes us a remedy.

Sheesh, some of us are slow learners!

Homeopathy is such a fascinating subject –

both a science and an art – that I don’t think one can ever learn

it all.<G>
