Guest guest
I first really got introduced to natural medicine about 14 years ago by an immunologist who was treating my CFS. He tested my blood and hair for nutritional needs and had a compound pharmacist make me a supplement uniquely for my body. I was also on a cyto-toxic diet, which is really a vegetarian diet. Then when I had the boys a couple of years later and they were having problems, I really started researching anything I could find on herbs and nutrition. Modern medicine does not have anything to offer for my kids’ autism. I joined a group of witches on , and learned a lot from them. I read books when I could afford them, and I looked things up on the internet. Through my pagan friends I found other groups, met Suzi and Don, and eventually helped form this group. Oh and , Superman ducks when you throw a revolver at him because he does not want his hair mussed duhhhhhh. Guest guest
I was a teenage survivalist hoping armegeddon would come so I wouldn't have to worry about passing algebra. Had all kinds of fantasies to feed by learning " survival skills " and adopting a preparedness lifestyle. Funny thing was, the further I got into the survivalist movement of the early 80's the more I saw what they were advocating was pretty much how I was brought up. Have a homestead in a rural community and develop skills that would be useful for helping yourself and others. I grew up on a homestead and was already doing that, my mom taught me far more about plants in the garden than " The American Survival Guide " magazine ever provided. With a stitch in the army I realized how ridiculous militism was and went over to the treehugging nature worshiping yoga reiki freaks. Along the way fell into the role of teaching wild edible and medicinal plants to people interested in learning earth living skills. I guess the 3 most influential teachers were dandelion, plantain, and comfrey but Tom Brown Jr, Sherwood, and " Doc " were pretty influential too. Guest guest
I learned a lot from Wiccans, even dabbled in it when I was younger. Then I went much darker, ending up involved with the Temple of Set, in the Order of the Werewolf. But that's another story. I have a couple of friends that are Wiccan, and our Herbalist back in CA is Wiccan, and an INCREDIBLE fount of information. We glean what we can from who we can. I read once that when a student is ready, a teacher will come. I have definitely found it to be true. Peace, love, laughter ps Speaking of Superman. I don't know if you know this, but I am a comic collector/trader/buyer/seller. I have more comics in my private collection than most retail stores I've been to. My home office is covered with Superman stuff. J Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt? > > I first really got introduced to natural medicine about 14 years ago by an > immunologist who was treating my CFS. Guest guest
Why thank you Janet. Mine started years ago with a preminition or insight or whatever you call it that I was supposed to touch alot of peoples lives... back then I didn't understand.. then later my neighbor came down with cancer and my chiro's wife was into herbs... and I learned about essiac... (I knew a little about herbs prior to this, even had an "awakening" dream about being a "shaman"...) well, started making essiac to help the neighbor and one thing led to another.. Have always felt that God left us everything we need to heal ourselves, we just have to find it before man destroys it. I started looking for a list.. found one, even moderated it for over a year... till I disagreed with politics... so Don and I decided we needed a group dedicated to alternative medicines (not politics)... Janet came with us and we got the group going.. joined us shortly after and the "rest is history"... Guest guest
I got my start looking for alternatives for my Thyroid. I first started with a Thyroid board and then someone there had mentioned an herb board, that's when i joined the one Suzi, DOn and Janet used to belong to and left to join them when this group formed (guido you was there too ) ) Anyway, about the same time as i was seeking alternatives, i met DH and he was anti-pharma and very into supplements and herbs. He pushed me to drop my meds and really adopt this life-style. Since then DH has taken one of Doc C's courses, and i read everything i can to try and stay on top of things. My G-kids when living here, they were starting to adopt the lifestyle and sometimes will call us when they get a sorethroat for " something " before their mom takes them to the Medico. I try to tell as many people as i can about herbs, and doing all they can to learn or read about ways that were around long before Pharmaceuticals. I try to explain as kindly as i can that the creator put everything we need to heal ourselves on the earth, and that mankind survied and flourished just fine for many thousands of years before the Pharmies ever existed. Anyway, sorry for the long answer. Syl > > > > I'm curious, how did you all learn the Craft? Was it passed down? A > consious lifestyle change? Guest guest
Gayla, Please, please, please keep us informed and up to date about the hip replacement!! If there is anything you need, a phone call, a hand to hold, a bit of humour or pathos, let us know! You know I am a Praying Man, so you will be there in the forefront of my mind daily. And remember to take Joy. Laugh every moment you get. " Joy is in the ear that hears " , have JOYOUS EARS! Peace, love, laughter " Your sorrow itself shall be turned into joy. Not the sorrow to be taken away, and joy to be put in it's place, but the very sorrow which now grieves you shall be turned into joy. God not only takes away the bitterness and gives sweetness in it's place, but turns the bitterness into sweetness itself. " Spurgeon > I guess I was simply meant to travel in this direction. Which is weird, considering I am going to have to have a hip replacement soon. I tried to get it straightened out with natural methods, but it is disintegrating as I type. > Gayla
Guest guest
-Hi Suzi and All I started on herbs about 7 years ago seriously, before that Ibought some health pills at the discount store once in awhile..they did nothing for me. But I had migrain headaches back than or what they call spectral lights or ziggy things in my vision. I found out from a health store gal that she also suffered from the same distracting migrain that is related to stress or a tension headach, I think it has to do with your balance because I put up with alot of stress and will have rare spectral headaches without the pain. Anyhow this gal said to take flax oil pills daily one in the morning and at bedtime and a good fish oil along with a vitamin E supplement daily. I have been on this regiment ever since and never have any more symtoms, hardly ever anymore. maybe two times a year if that even. I take a max fish oil pill and have no pain in my joints or knees ever unless I work really hard outside and the pain subsides in a day or so with rest. I take spinach pills or anything to imprive or maintain my good vision. today I juiced again with a melon muskmelon that was overipe in our refig and I noticed a few small soft spots in placesmbut the melon was sweet and juicy so I juiced that with my carrots..Ummm was that good! So gang I found another ingredient to juice with carrots thats so smooth and mellow , absolutely delicious!
