Guest guest
Janelle I haven't had any trouble with thrush but I do have loads of yeast infections. Also, I cannot get rid of the congestion. It is deep down in my chest and I have been taking antibiotics for 20 days. No luck. Hope yours goes away sooner than mine. Guest guest
Hi Kaye, I realize that my ideas on things are not orthodox, but here goes. You say you have yeast infections but don't have trouble with thrush. You have a lot of congestion and are on antiobiotics and it won't clear up. I hate to tell you this but that is classice for yeast overgrowth. You don't have to be clogged up with " cottage cheese " in your digestive tract to have a yeast overgrowth. I know this because I have experienced it myself. The doctor kept giving me antiobiotics to clear up congestion along with other ailments. It just didn't work. If anything, it got worse. Anyhow, I stopped the antiobiotics and went on a yeast free diet. It was not until about 3 years after that my new doctor prescribed me Diflucan to help clear yeast infections which I was having trouble with again. I tell you, the bit of lingering congestion, ear popping and other things cleared right up. And, I kept totally clear of sugar and am careful to this day with my diet. I have never had another yeast infection and my congestion has never returned. Just something to think about.

Guest guest
, Well, it's quite common with weaken muscles for congestion to occur, especially from coughing due to any kind of throat irritation. You cough, and then your throat/air way reacts by producing secretions. Then if it doesn't get cleared out, it goes further in your airway & causes congestion. I know you already know this. But if it continues to reoccur & hang around for awhile, then it would be a concern. If your eyes or nose aren't bothering you, most likely it isn't allergies. Unless you feel your sinuses draining down your throat. Otherwise congestion is from the inability to clear secretions out. That's why when you have a cold you remain congested until the cold is gone, because you're not able to cough it all up because your muscles aren't as strong as they should be... P.S.I have a trach, if I have a coughing attack, I get congested until I suction it out. Take Care, Cody Namesnik codemann@... Re: New Mom Here Jay, Mind if I ask a few more questions? Leo turned 2 in April, so he wouldn't quite understand the timing, although he learned how to move around in his standing dani rather quickly, so I suppose we could train him to use the cough assist as well. How often during the day do you use it with Jordan? Is it something that is a regular routine with him or do you use it only when he is congested? Does he use a nebulizer with albuteral (sp?) also? Our pulmonologist doesn't seem too concerned about Leo's congestion issues because his oxygen levels are always fine and he can hear that he's moving air through his lungs just fine. He did give us the albuteral last time, but as he was writing the prescription for it he said " Well, it may not help, but it can't hurt. Guest guest
hmmm, very interesting. I think I may have mild allergies--my nose often is mildly stuffed up, or runny, nothing big, but i also know my lungs are weak. im always able to clear the congestion fairly quickly, and its a rare occurance when it does happen, so Im not toooo worried. my dad almost always gets congested after he eats, and he is AB. His dr said it could be allergies (guess thats the common answer given LOL)...does your suction for your trach clear congestion all the way down to the lungs?--or is it just like stuff at the back of throat? lauren Cody Namesnik <codemann@...> wrote: , Well, it's quite common with weaken muscles for congestion to occur, especially from coughing due to any kind of throat irritation. For excessive drainage in month & throat I use what they call a Yonker, like dentists use. aka oral suctioning.. Take Care, Cody Namesnik codemann@... Guest guest
Oh, by the way your lungs aren't weak or bad. Just your skeletal muscle are weak, a.k.a. Diaphragm... Not major but just enough to where coughing becomes difficult to bring up excessive secretions w/ a cold. Take Care, Cody Namesnik codemann@... Guest guest
Hi, Sometimes there is a lot of mucous that is secreted when you swallow or your oesophagus is blocked - but are you allergic to anything? Congestion of your throat is often present when the body is reacting to an allergen. You don't always react immediately - a delayed reaction is always possible. Your body could also be reacting to the irritation of fluid regurgitated from your oesophagus. I have had an awful cough lately which starts as a tickle in my throat and then I cough till some mucous is freed. I thought it was just the irritation of achalasia reflux of acid made from retained food in the oesophagus. However yesterday I did not take any Magnesium and B6 tablets and my throat cleared up and I have not coughed all day. These tablets contain milk sugar and I thought I was getting away with it ! I am allergic to milk and it would seem I was having a delayed reaction. Do tell us who you are or pick a nick name ! Do also tell us more about yourself and ask questions. Welcome aboard ! Joan Johannesburg South Africa congestion hello, i'm new to this group and have a question. i've had achalasia for probably 15 years and diagnosed for the last 3. i thought it was ulcers before. lately i've had a lot of congestion, finding it hard to clear my throat. anyone else had a problem like this. thanks
Guest guest
Many of us have more problems with Achalasia when we are congested, have allergies, or a cold. I am thankful that I don't get that way very often, because I KNOW I will feel worse when I do. I have more swallowing issues, and I get more spasms when I have a cold. I find that my spasms overall are helped by taking calcium/magnesium supplements regularly. I also have less trouble when I eat a lower carb diet, cut sugar and cut starchy stuff. That's the way I live now, but I still carry a bottle of water with me all the time just in case I get a spasm. in Houston > hello, i'm new to this group and have a question. i've had achalasia > for probably 15 years and diagnosed for the last 3. i thought it was > ulcers before. lately i've had a lot of congestion, finding it hard > to clear my throat. anyone else had a problem like this. thanks
Guest guest
Hi , What are the calcium and magnesium supplements you take called ? I have tried several - two of them have milk sugar in them and have an allergy warning, and the third was a liquid which was so acid I nearly died of heartburn !! It has been the one with the milk sugar base that I am now sure have caused my cough. Guest guest
Suzie you wouldn't be able to use any of this on a 1 year old baby would you? I shared this information (giving full credit of course my love) and I told the person to check with a professional herbalist or Holistic healer in her area before giving anything like this to a 1 year old. Did I do the right thing? Or could they be used on a baby? Thanks so much. Beannacht Lynn Re: Congestion > Suzi, > Thanks. Guest guest
In my understanding of the holistic healing process, the foods and drinks that " cleanse " parts of the body remove toxins, which must then be eliminated from the body. The elimination can occur anywhere there is an " exit " - for example, via the skin, kidneys, colon, lungs, etc. When you drink kombucha and rashes or congestion show up and persist, it might be a good time to look at the big picture and evaluate why toxins might be trying to get out via mucus in the sinuses. I'm a patient of this type of cleansing approach, not a practitioner, so I can't say much more except to suggest that a person who knows about herbs and cleansing might be of value to you.
