Guest guest
Dear Forum members, After going thru some of the responses, I am stopping screening immediately, will rather try to create awareness among villagers and encourage voluntary testing which seems to be a reasonable approach given the social structure of of our villages. I thank everyone for responses and it was a learning experience. Madhukar E-mail: <madhukurnool@...>
Guest guest
Dear Forum, Ref: Dr. Kurnool's posting " Will stop screening immediately " Voluntary testing is the right way to do but it is not enough--a positive test would still result in stigma and discrimination for the person being tested. Before you do testing, there should be enough mechanism to ensure that there is pre-test counseling, testing is done anonymously and there is enough voluntary post test counseling. It would be devastating for a person to know that s/he is positive without knowing what to do about it. Sathi Dasgupta.
