Guest guest
Hi all. I am a 3rd year medical student undertaking 1 research year at the Australian International Health Institute, affiliated to the University of Melbourne, Australia. I have been assigned to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) at Dharan, Nepal for 2 months at the end of the year, concentrating on applying the principles of Primary Health Care to setting up a care and support program for HIV/AIDS persons in the Eastern Region of Nepal, working out of Sunsari. (This is an identified research need for the people at BPKIHS who are beginning to see more full blown AIDS cases and thus need to consider setting up of chronic care programs for these patients) As such, I need to dissect the issues and obstacles surrounding this subject. Staff attitudes, cultural behaviour, social stigma, sustainability and resources - drugs, money, manpower. Being a non Nepali, I am even more foreign to this field. If anyone would have any useful articles or information, or even suggestions regarding this matter, I would appreciate any replies whatsoever. Thank you for your time!
