Guest guest
Alaina, I think we pretty washed 's hair everyday, however, I would think as long as the helmet was taken off and washed thoroughly and her head wasn't too stinky you could skip days if you wanted too. 's sweating did get under control pretty quickly, but her head was still kinda stinky when we took the helmet off. I think it would be a personal choice if you aren't having to deal with the funk. Guest guest
Hello! My orthotist said that we need to wash Abby's head/hair every day during her hour off. Her sweating is down to almost none, and I'm just wondering if it's really necessary. It just cuts down on our head snuggling time with her, and we'd like to maybe cut down to every other day. I also wonder if bathing every day is not too good for her baby skin. Any ideas? Thanks! Alaina Abby's mom Idaho
Guest guest
We, also were instucted to wash Liv's hair everyday. We didn't. She had her helmet off everyday for 1 hr and during that time I would rub her head with a damp facecloth and clean her helmet with 91% alcohol. She has eczema and very dry skin and bathing her and shampooing everyday just made it worse. She is tub bathed every 3 days and everynight on non bath nights I give her a good facecloth wash followed by a heavy moisterizer. Also, on her bath nights, she gets a heavy duty shampoo job with J & J baby shampoo and I rub it in with a baby brush. The dry spots on his head could be cradle cap(or cradle crap as I like to call it LOL)?? Anne Mom of Livia(DOC band graduate 12/01) Canada Re: Wash hair every day? I admit I have been tempted to not wash 's hair every day, but I havebeen too afraid to try it. We were instructed by CT to wash the hair everyday, and I have followed those instructions. has had VERY minor dryskin, but I think that's to be expected in the dry winter. I just put on alittle baby lotion after his bath and it takes care of the problem.I have noticed a few little dry areas on top of his head (not where the bandtouches him) and I wonder if it isn't from washing every day. But I muchprefer that minor little problem than having to deal with skin problems dueto bacteria buildup from not washing daily. I scrub his head really goodwith shampoo, and I don't think I could get the same result from justsponging.Christi in TXMommy to , 6/2/01 at 34 weekshttp://www.exracers.com/nathan.htmFor more plagio info

Guest guest
Hey Alaina-washing it every day helps to keep that odor away and to keep the helmet from getting oily inside- I solved my snuggle time by getting in the bath with every night and then we still had skin to skin contact and play time together and it was great-but our hour generally turned into a little longer given the whole routine-but I don't think that really hurt anything. As far as his little baby skin went-since we started when he was 3 months we really lathered him up with lotion and aquaphor on any area that seemed to be getting dry and it worked. I guess if Alaina;s head doesn't stink and her hair doesn't get oily then you could just take off the band for cleaning and forgo the rest. I don't see why that would hurt but maybe your ortho has some insight into that. Let us know and keep snuggling:-) Beck
Guest guest
We give a bath and wash his hair every other day. He has sensitive skin on the dry side and I think daily washings on him would dry him out too much. He hasn't sweated hardly at all after the initial adjustment period in the band so I just clean the band every night and get that extra snuggle time every other day. Guest guest
Hi Alaina: As long as my Abby's hair wasn't super sweaty, I didn't wash her hair daily. On days where she did sweat a lot I did. I don't think it's something you " have to do " . It's your decision. They do say washing daily can dry a baby's skin out, but it doesn't affect my Abby's skin It all depends on the baby. Guest guest
Hi Alaina, Our son has really dry skin, and we were advised, even with the helmet, to give him a bath every other day. Our pediatrician also recommended using unscented Dove body wash for him, instead of baby bath, to add more moisturizer. ~, 's mom Massachusetts Wash hair every day? Hello!
