-it will likely depend on the growth spurts he is having for when you see the noticeable change-but compare it to the head mold and ask the ortho next time you are in to compare both with you and have her point out the changes she has seen. I swore when had his helmet on he would look great one day and then completely flat headed again the next-so don't let your eyes play tricks on you. When we stare at their heads as long as we do I sweat our eyes play tricks on us. Take pictures when he is in the tub-from the top down and from the front and then make sure you have them in the right order-You should be seeing some improvement. Best of luck let us know how it goes.

Correction with a band/helmet is directly linked to growth spurts. Those

growth spurts are fewer and further in between as baby gets older. Have you

noticed any significant growth

Sorry, cut myself off on my last reply. I meant to say have you seen any

significant growth spurts since you began treatment last month? If you have

then I would think you should be able to see some improvement. Did you take

some good before pictures? If not, take some now and then you will have

something to compare his head shape to as you go along. If you have serious

concerns about whether or not there has been improvement then get in to see

your ortho or specialist and talk over your concerns with that person.

My son started the band at 5 months and was done in 7 weeks. He wore

it from 11/1/01 to 12/23/01. He looks so much better it is

unbelievable. He also had slight torticollis, and it improved

dramatically also.

Was your son's plagio mild? Why did it only take 7 weeks...because

you did so early??

I am really confused as what to do... I feel like I don't want to

wait to band, but banding seems so drastic. My son just turned 4

months today. But, I feel like I need to get the ball rolling so that

he could be in the band by 5 months.... Urghhhh...

This is really stressing me out.

Thanks,

The younger a baby starts a band/helmet, the faster & better the

correction is likely to be. It's a very hard decision to make. Like

I suggested earlier, you could still continue with the repositioning

for until your son is 6 mos old, if his head has not improved by that

time, then you might want to consider a band. It's a very difficult

decision to make and there's not always much time to make it. Even

if you begin a band at 6 mos., he'll still hit good growth spurts and

get good correction.

Did you call your pediatrician yet today?
