Wow Kellie! What an ordeal you are going through. My daughter had a 3-D CT

scan and was sedated. I worried a lot about it, but it turned out to be a

less frightening experience then I thought it was going to be. I will be

hoping for you and your family that does not have cranio. If you end up

getting a band will you be using a DOCband?

Good luck with your upcoming struggles. You are a great advocate for your

child and you will do whatever you need to do to get your child the treatment

he needs. Keep us posted.

Hi my name is Sherry, my son mason has plagio and just started wearing his

helmet. His neuro also thought that he had cranio but after the mri and 3d

CT scan our neurosurgeon says that he does not. However the radiologist says

that he does. Anyway what I am trying to say is no matter what your Drs. say

to you if you feel that they are wrong go with your instinct and get another

opinion, cranio is something that you need a specialist for because some Drs.

cant see it. anyway I have gone on long enough. If you have any questions

about the CT or sedation let me know. sherry Mom to mason

Kellie and - I am so glad you are pursuing helmet therapy despite the great personality comments. I would love to know how these DR's and Nurses can determine personality based on 12 months of life- my niece was the most miserable child out there- colic fussy middle child syndrome etc. and has thebest most pleasant easy going personality- but at 12 months you would have thought she would be the worst- so I agree with you- I don't think personality conquers all-children have so much else to deal with we need to help them out with it while we can and they will allow us. Besides that I still don't think 12 months is too late to see correction. So good luck. We will keep you in our thoughts as you get the CT scans done-what a frightening time for you. I hope they are right in that your son does not have Cranio and I would just try to focus on that without getting too far ahead of yourself. It must be very scary for you and just know we are all here for you in email land. Please let us know how the scans go. I believe many other moms can attest to the fact that the sedation's scary but more for the mom's will likely be allowed to fall asleep in your arms before he know what happened he will be awake again. I understand the anesthesia is very short acting and they wake up verys shortly after the scans-but other moms can tell you their stories I am sure. Just continue to be strong and know that you are doing what is best for your son. As far as appeals-can you access the files section of the board? Here is a link search the folders for articles and letters and such they will all help you in your appeal process and don't give up -- you will be the first to beat them I am sure. Here are the various links that should help you out........

Kellie,

I feel so bad that you have had to go through all of this! What an awesome mom you are for going the distance! It infuriates me when people make light of this situation and act like we should just sit idly by because they feel its a cosmetic issue. Why aren't braces for teeth so well debated? Why do they bother putting a glass eye in someone? Why do we augment breasts after losing one? Why do we get chipped teeth fixed? Why do we bother to even brush our hair? These may sound trivial, but they are events surrounded by vanity and are happening right now without dispute, and why are we as parents on trial for wanting our children to look and feel their best as well!!! Good luck to you- remember- keep fighting the good fight for , those that are giving you these comments will not have to answer to him later in life! Even if we all don't achieve total correction from banding or repositioning, at least we can tell our children that we did all that we could to make them happy, healthy adults!

Take Care,

' Mom
