Guest guest
: I wouldn't worry too much about that chin strap. Many, many helmets have them, and I've never heard of any negative effects from them (aside from them getting gooped up with food etc! ;o) Of course, if you have a genuine concern, you should talk to your ortho about it. You sound as though you are pretty worried about it, so I think you should ask. Just make sure the explanation you get makes sense to YOU, and don't be afraid to ask for clarification. Let us know what you find out! Kendra in Canada helmet with chin strap Ok I am having some problems with this helmet. Does anybody else have one with a chin strap? Also the orthotist said that the back of the helmet when you look down from the top should have spaces so that her head will round out on the back and then the tort side pushes it for the side that drifts. but when I look down all I see are spaces in the front. Wont that mean that the back is pushing to the front and will make her forehead portrude? Also I am still concerned about the chin strap and her facial asymmetry, I am wondering if the orthotist will even know what that is if I call him and ask him about that pushing on her face? Ok just had to vent and see if anyone is having similar problems?? Thanks For more plagio info
Guest guest
, Your daughter's helemet, as I stated before, sounds completely different from any of the ones I've seen (is there a 'brand' name?) We fully sympathise with your plight and it would be in your best interest to have your ortho check it out asap. Pressure on the flattened areas (chin strap/helmet) does sound completely backwards. Sorry it's not any directly helpful advise, but follow your instincts and get answers to your questions. -- Joe O'Connor streams2oceans@... Guest guest
, Many helmets do have chin straps and I haven't heard of them causing any trouble. If you are concerned about the way the spacing looks see if you can get in to see the ortho and SHOW him the places that are causing you concern. The ortho should be able to explain to your satisfaction - in fact, you should insist that he explain it to your satisfaction! Good luck and let us know what you find out.
