I not sure I agree with that. Here is the article: http://www.aapos.org/pappostp5/paper96_8.html thanks a lot! I will check it out. I sure wish it said that the plagio causes the superior oblique palsy. I will read it and see if it will help. I REALLY appreciate it! Guest guest
Amy, Having a superior oblique ( 4th nerve) palsey means that there is partial or total loss of function of the 4th (trochlear) cranial nerve. It is the 4th nerve that supplys the superior oblique muscle of the eye. Babies and children usually present with a head tilt to keep from seeing double. If the article suggests that this causes plagio? I find that hard to believe. In other words I agree with you. It may be that some kids with plagio may have the SO4 as well (again another reason to see an Ophthalmologist) or maybe that they should be sure to rule it out if they have a head tilt. I'll read the article. Thanks for the info. Florida (used to live in Michigan )
Guest guest
Amy, Now I understand. I read the article. I believe what they mean when they say that SO palsy can cause pagio is this... With SO palsy there is usually a head tilt or turn to help with binocularity. If the head is always turned...plagiocephaly can occur if always in this position. Understand? I think that's what they mean. Not certain. Take the article to your daughters Ophthalmologist. Let me know. Florida
