Guest guest
and Gracie, Here is an earlier reply to questions reguarding a vision exam... One of my Pediatric Ophthalmologist friends gave this response: The reason for ophthalmic examinations is the association of plagiocephaly and craniosynostosis. The children have a higher incidence of strabismus, oblique muscle dysfunction, tear duct abnormalities, and in severe craniosynostosis the optic nerve can be damaged in the bony optic canals or in secondary to elevated ICP. All these infants should have a baseline ophthalmic examination by one year of age I thought it would be nice to hear it straight from an M.D. C.O.M.T. (mom to ) Florida P.S. Definately have the above evaluated by a Pediatric Ophthalmologist
Guest guest
, I would keep the appt with the opthamologist. Vision problems are often associated with plagio so it wouldn't hurt to hear what that specialist has to say. We saw an opthamologist before beginning treatment. Also part two....I wasn't paying close enough attention to those that had the problem with drying out of the head from the helmet. She isn't exactly drying out but there is a patch where the helmet has pressure that seems a little rubbed off from the helmet so she has a little raspberry on her head. Any suggestions on what to do with that?? Thanks and Gracie Hey how is Grace's raspberry- I would think that if she was gettinga raspberry from the helmet the ortho might want to shave a little out of that area. Guest guest
Beck-well the raspberry seems to be getting better it faded away. I have been keeping a close eye on it and she goes in this Thurs for the helmet check to make sure if it needs adjustments. I have already noticed a difference. When I used to look at the back of her head while burping her it was obvious which side of her head drifted due to the tort. Well yesterday when I was burping her I had to look really close and remind myself which side was the tort side because it is not drifting as much so that gives me good hope! Guest guest
That's great ! If it is a raspberry from her growing, that's a great sign things are coming along.
