hi, i havent posted in some time but Makenna goes to the neurosurgeon

on the 21 (her first apt.). We thought we were seeing some improvment

with her head rounding out, but i think its just because she has to

much hair and it wasnt as noticable, until i pull her hair in a

ponytail on top, then you can really see the flatness and wideness of

her head (im going to attempt to post some pics of Makenna soon so

you can all " meet " her!). Anyway, we are going to st louis childrens

hospital and that is where the helmets are made. Has anyone had a

helmet made there? Im wondering what they look like, if its going to

work, if it has a chin strap or not. And what about if a child has

tons of hair? Makenna will be 6 months on the 17th, and she has a

head full. Do the helmets pull hair? I know, really silly questions,

but im just have so many of them. thanks for reading!

I just did a quick search of the past 6 mos of archives to see if

there were any posts about the St. Louis hospital & didn't fine any.

Hopefully someone in here is familiar with it though & can help.

Ask the neuro for a picture of possibly a similar helmet that Makenna

will be getting. He should at least have a picture of one. At

Abby's neuro appt her Dr had an actual helmet there that he told us

we'd be getting! Ha, the " helmet " Abby was told she'd get was

actually a band, completely diff. than what he had shown me! Our

neuro was clueless! But that's a diff. story.. hehe.

Abby also has/had a ton of hair - neither of her bands pulled her

hair at all. That's not a stupid question at all. Abby did lose

VERY little hair in the band, but no more than she loses when I brush

it. Speaking of hair, I just TRIED to get her her 1st haircut! WHat

a joke! The little spaz had a cow. Wouldn't have a thing to do

w/it. Uggggggg.......The trim I do on her bangs leaves a lot to be

desired let me tell ya!

Good luck, be sure you let us know how the appt goes.
