Hi Alaina,

Sorry, due to the holiday's I am way behind on reading posts and just came

across this one after responding to the other!

I did not realize the concerns about overheating/SIDS until reading these

posts. Since wearing the band I had noticed 's hands and feet getting

warm and sweating at night. We have turned the heat down at night (which

our second floor is still quite warm no matter what we do with the

thermostat), and I have started dressing him lighter for bed. Additionally,

we have a very dry house, and we run a vaporizer in his room at night. We

were using a warm mist one, but with the helmet we have switched it to a

cool water one. It seems to help move the air around in his room while

adding moisture and keeping it from getting too warm or stuffy in the room.

Our ceilings are too low for a ceiling fan, but I definitely feel that this

has helped.

Re: helmet causing overheating/SIDS

Hi Alaina:

Abby is new wearing her band, so she is sweating a lot now, but that

should/will decrease over the next week or 2. Then her body will

adjust to the band and will adapt appropriately. Sweat is always bad

for the first week or 2.

I dressed my Abby a bit cooler while in her bands. I didn't put a

onesie on her at bed time or most days (except in really cold

weather). Beck's suggestion of a ceiling fan or oscillating is also

really good.
