Guest guest
Hello everybody! When I took my boys for their 1 year-checkup my newest pediatrician(I like this one!)told me that she would like to see the boys off bottles by 15 months. This seems reasonable to me, so a couple of days ago I started to give them their cups more and their bottles less. This went fairly smoothly. What worries me now is the day after I started this new program, they wet their diapers less. A lot less. I went ahead and added the bottles back to their schedule, alternated with sippy cups. If they dehydrate so rapidly, does this mean they are not ready to give up the bottle? Part of the problem, I know, is they have been using disposable bottles and they never figured out to lift their arms up to get the liquid, so they lie down to drink from their cups. Has anybody else had this problem, and if so, any advice? They eat mostly people food now, it's just the bottle thing I'm having issues with. They are 13 months now, incidentally. Thanks! Guest guest
Jill: Are they drinking less now that you've decreased the number of bottles they're getting? I wouldn't worry too much about it. Abby used to drink, drink & drink so many bottles a day toward the end, her diaper was always wet. Now that I look back, she didn't wet as often once on the sippy cup. It's probably becuz they're eating so much solid food now, that their liquids has significantly decreased. They're drinking liquid now simply as a beverage, no longer as their sole nutrion. Make sense? Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI p.s.......look out for my husband in Vegas in 2.5 wks. YIKES, he's heading out there with 3 buddies. Could he take me??????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. LOL, I'm actually happy to get rid of him for a weekend. Ahhhh, I better take all our money (all $2.50) & hide it before he leaves. He's staying at the Tropicana. > Hello everybody! > When I took my boys for their 1 year-checkup my newest pediatrician (I > like this one!)told me that she would like to see the boys off > bottles by 15 months. Guest guest
another thought Jill you don't want your kids drinking flat on their backs-increase ear infection risks with that! Yuck! beck
