Through AIDS in Asia, a new initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda

Gates Foundation, the Asia Society will be joining those advocating

for recognition that the next wave of the HIV/AIDS pandemic will be

in Asia, and for policies and programs to stem it.

The Asia Society will launch AIDS in Asia with a simultaneous

discussion between experts in India and New York to discuss the

challenges of HIV/AIDS in Asia using the unique experience in India.

The sheer number of Indian citizens and the size of the country make

the potential impact of an unchecked AIDS epidemic staggering to

consider. The panelists will explore why the epidemic in India is

different from other regions of the world and focus on what we can

learn from India's research and experience with AIDS that will help

combat the epidemic there and throughout the region.
