Guest guest
Here is what the report says...(this is from about a month ago when her pediatrician had xrays done to determine what was going on).. Clinical history: Plagiocephaly Report: AP and left lateral views of skull were obtained. Posterior fossa appears relatively shallow and anterior fossa relatively deep. Sagittal, coronal and lambdoid sutures all appear to remain unfused. Some flattening of the posterior pareitooccipital portion of the skull is noted. Sella turcica appears normal. No abnormal calcification is seen. Impressions: 1 Postural occipital flattening of the skull 2 no identifiable premature synostosis of the crania sutures sooo, anyway, i dont understand half of what the Docs wrote... Take a look at her skull and give opinion if you want. Makenna goes to neurosurgeon Monday...im hoping he will say she doesnt need a helmet, but i notice if i have her hair pulled up in back, that the back of her head is pretty wide, and flat. My mom and sister in law really notice it and think she will need helmet..cant wait till monday. Illinois
Guest guest
, At least the report is saying that there isn't any premature closing of the sutures. That is GREAT news - that means no craniosynostosis. You specialist will be able to best advise you as to whether or not Makenna will need a helmet. How do you feel about her head shape? Are you concerned about it? I know you said that you have family that thinks she will need a helmet, but what about you? Ultimately it will be your decision. I'm sure that you will make the right choice for Makenna. You have given it a lot of thought I am sure and you have done your research. Let us know how the specialist appointment goes. Guest guest
: The report has excellent news, no cranio! Whew. No, for the decsion wheter or not to get her a helmet. It's a tough decision for sure. Do whatever your gut tells you to. Odds are, your neurosurgeon will leave the decision up to you. I wished someone would've told me what to do about my Abby's head. I was so incredibally stressed with the decision falling 100% onto my shoulders. I did what my gut told me to do & don't regret it for a second. That mommy intuition thing is usually always right. Good luck Monday. Please be sure to let us know how it goes.
