has been very sick for a week now with Bronchialitis. Among the

half dozen medicines he is on is amoxacillian (sp?) for an ear infection

that accompanied the RSV. Last night when I gave him his night dose of what

we call le pink suffo disgutinus, some f it was spit up and soaked into his

collar. Now some of it has been sucked into the interior material of the

back of his DOC band.

Our primary concern right now is just getting the poor lad healthy again

(he was almost hospitalized for dehydration yesterday, he's been to the

pedi/doc 4 of the last 7 days now and is going back Monday) It's hard to get

him to eat anything because his throat is so raw from his coughing fits.

When we get through this, though, I'd like to try to get the pink out of his

Doc band. Any ideas?

On a high note, our insurance co sent a letter indicating they'd cover

the Band. Originally they claimed it was 'out of network' and only wanted to

cover 45%. Now that they've taken it, though, we should pay nothing. Our 3

weeks in the hospital when he was born brought us up to the annual max out

of pocket! We'd celebrate if our baby wasn't so miserable.

Also, if anyone has any tricks to get a sick baby to take his pedialyte,

we'd appreciate it. He's managed to down 26 oz in 24 hrs, which should keep

him out of the hospital, but isn't a whole lot. At least he's putting some

weight in him diapers now!

Joe,

My son also had RSV and bronchiolitis and was subsequently hospitalized because he wouldn't drink anything!! If he did, he would puke it up or have diarrhea. He was in the hospital with IV's for 5 days, most of that for observation. He would only drink pedialyte, and he seemed to prefer the clear one, without flavor for some reason. I know how you feel, its so awful when they are sick like that, and the coughing was making him gag it was so bad (oh, thank God that era is over!). Good luck to you and your little one and wishing him a speedy recovery asap!
