Guest guest
, I think it might be a good idea to ask your ped about the stiffness. It seems that was quite flexible when she was younger. (I remember we could put her big toe up to her nose with ease which she thought was quite funny) It might not be a bad idea to express that concern to your ped and see if he/she might reccommend seeing a physical therapist for an evaluation. Guest guest
You should probably have this checked out -- he could have some stiff muscle tone. This can cause developmental delays and/or toe walking if you don't get help. Stretches help -- I have to do them with and it does help. He can now reach his toes. First sit him up with his legs out straight in front of him. Put a toy in front to encourage him to reach forward (touching his toes). Second, lie him on his back and gently stretch his legs up towards his head. The people at CT were nice enough to show me some additional exercises, rolling his hips each way, rolling his ankles, etc. I'd recommend getting the advice of a physical therapist. My pediatrician never caught 's tightness, even when I asked her about it but the developmental therapist caught it at 's 6 month developmental checkup. He was always hard to diaper because his legs were so stiff. A PT can tell you where he's tight, and how to work it out. Hope that helps, and feel free to email me if you want to talk about it.
