Guest guest
Yikes Kellie, what a frightening and loooooong night you had. I'm glad to hear that is doing better now. From what I am hearing, and from what I have experienced, the flu is very nasty this year! I'm sorry to hear that you had to postpone his birthday party, those bad mean germs! I think your little boy is very smart, he's figured out how to make his birthday celebration last longer than a day! You'll still be celebrating it a week later....smart boy! ;o) Take care and give him lots of tender loving care (which I know you are doing!!), no better medicine than that! Guest guest
Kellie: Awww, poor little . Especially to mess up his 1st bday party, and maybe the postponed party too! I really hope he is better by Sat at the latest. I'm right beside you with the sick kid. Although thankfully Abby only threw up the one time. But one hour " she's getting better " then the next she's burning up again. It's so frustrating. Then last night she woke up with 3 diarrheas in a row. Now she too has the barking cough. A constant cough that worsens while she is laying or sleeping. How do you know if it's croup? It's worrying me. She's ok when she's up & awake besides an occasional cough but at night she scares me. It's a very dry, deep cough which almost causes her to throw up & gag. Hugs to :'(. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > I am right there along with 's daddy about these darn viruses. Guest guest
Debbie Croup is a virus that attacks and swells the windpipe - it can start as a little bit of a cold or flu like symptons. The main signs are a hoarse barking (almost dog or seal like) cough. When breathing in there is a wheezing sound - one of the best ways to deal with it at home is to stay calm and have the patient in a humid - steamed up area - like the bathroom with a hot shower running or put a wet towel in the clothes dryer - air humidifiers can also work - in severe cases a trip to the hospital is best as steroid medications help take down the swelling in the wind pipe - be warned however that many doctors will say that your child will grow out of croup - this is not always the case - is almost 8 now and still gets it in winter - me (I hate to say) am almost 30 and also still get croup.
