Guest guest
's Daily Message Tuesday February 21, 2006 LITTLE L For over 30 years, I`ve been going to Texas to teach classes. I`ve taught in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San , and I really do enjoy that Texas spirit. Well, last weekend, I got the pleasure of traveling to Lubbock, Texas. On Friday night when I got there, the temperature was 18 degrees. You read right – 18! It had been in the 80`s just 2 days before, but an unexpected cold front visited the west Texas city, and there I was in my shorts saying hello to Father Frost! I had been flying most of the day, and when I arrived at the hotel, the first thing I looked at was the room service menu. I salivated as I read the temptations – the supreme nacho platter, hot Buffalo wings with a side of blue cheese, quesadillas with Monterey Jack, avocado, grilled onions, sliced chicken, jalapeno peppers, and sour cream, and the Texas barbecue feast consisting of ribs, chicken, smoked brisket, french fries, and a blooming onion. Oh, man, I was so hungry, and I wanted it all, but I settled for a bowl of vegetable soup and a salad. The next morning before going to the Memorial Civic Center, I stopped at the medical center to visit with a man that I`ve called on my radio show named Jerry, who weighs almost 700 pounds. One of the nurses emailed me and asked me to make some time for this very sweet man. I stayed for about an hour visiting with Jerry and all the nurses and doctors who have been taking such great care of him. I knelt at his bed, and we prayed together. As I was leaving, one of the doctors told me they were sending Jerry home. They couldn`t keep him at the hospital any longer, and they couldn`t find any other facility in the area that would take him. I promised Jerry I was going to keep in touch with him and see if I could find a place that would help him get on his feet. He has 4 beautiful daughters, and they want their daddy back. Tonight as you go to sleep and say your prayers, please, please say one for Jerry. Thank you. Love,
