MOST IMPORTANT....!!!, don't get ANYTHING on the inside of the band... the only thing your suppose to use on the inside of a band is rubbing alcohol. Nothing else, no soaps, paints, dyes, ect... only rubbing alcohol for cleaning. Anything else may eat away at the insides and destroy the little band. I hope this helps a little. I really hope this doesn't come across as mean, it's not ment to. )
Guest guest
I use stickers on my little girls band. Then modge podge over them, then a clear sealer to hold the stickers in place. it pretty much peals away when I want to apply different ones. I've redone her little band like 5 times now...lol. (i use goo gone to get the sticky residue from the stickers off) I think the longest part of the whole process is taping the little band so nothing gets on the inside when I spray on the sealer. I know lots of people in here have had theirs painted though. I've even heard of a few getting them airbrushed. --- In Plagiocephaly@y..., " ohsosweetcakes " <OhSoSweetCakes@a...> wrote: > I have been asked to paint my Godson's new helmet and would like to > know exactly what products to use and techniques, (ex: drying in > frig). Guest guest
Tish, There are so many options available to you with decorating the bands. If you decide to paint, I suggest that you use acrylic non- toxic paints. They have a very low odor and seem to dry fairly quickly. I have also used a variety of stickers and rub-on transfers, and have been able to change the design when ever the mood struck me. To seal on your art work, use an acrylic varnish. I found a wonderful decoupage set that had a great varnish with it. I also used mod podge, but found that left a sticky residue at times (then again, I did use it during the most humid days of summer!) The first time I decorated my daughters band, I sealed it with an acrylic spray on sealer, and it made the rub on transfers shrivel up like shrinky dinks so I had to do it all over again! Once I switched to the varnish, I never had that problem occur again. And as Kelli mentioned to you, don't get anything on the inside of the band! Not only might it affect the foam lining of the band, but you really don't want any of that stuff up against the babies sensitive skin for 23 hours a day. You can see how a lot of the parents here have decorated their childs band in both our files section and photos section.
