Hi. Sorry this is off topic but it's too early here to call any family to ask. woke up at 5 a.m. this morning throwing up. Since then he's thrown up three more times. He is definitely not himself and refused to drink any juice. I don't know what to do. Do I let it run its course or should I take him in to the dr. I am a first-time mom and I've taken him into the dr for colds and coughs before, for them to look at me like I'm crazy and say, "Yes, he has a cold." How do you take care of a baby with a stomach flu? I am so lost.

Thanks,

Kellie, mom of , one year old on Jan 17.

Debbie-

I bought him some pedialyte but he is not sleeping. Sleeping a lot today. He's been dryheaving, and I know how much that hurts. He just lets out a little weak cry. I found that putting him on his tummy to sleep has been helping. When I put him on his back he starts gagging. I called the ped and they told me to brinkg him in at 11:30, an hour and a half away. It really scareds me to see him this way.

Thanks everyone for your help. You guys are great.

Kellie:

Abby had the flu last April after catching it from me. Poor thing,

she threw up 4 times in a day. I called the ped and was so mad to

hear that there wasn't anything they could do for us on the 1st day.

They of course suggested pedialyte which she didn't keep down for the

1st day. They also suggested popsicles. Abby tolerated those just

fine! Maybe that would help? Kids love popsicles & rarely reject

them. Hopefully could keep it down. Our bug was thankfully

just a 24 hr deal. Hopefully 's is too :(. He better get all

better for his big 1st bday!

YOu've probably already talked to your ped. by now anyway, let us

know what he said.

Niki-

The doctor basically just said it was a stomach bug and to give him pedialyte. He didn't have a fever or diarrhea at the time, but he did later on today, but only once. He hasn't thrown up in over six hours and although he is asleep again right now, he was walking around and playing like his normal self. It is very hard seeing him not hisself. Right now he and daddy are sleeping together on the couch. Usually a normal occurrence when daddy gets home from work anyway! But I gave a bath earlier to get the puke smell off of him, and I remember I always felt better if I took a bath when I was sick. Every little bit counts, right? I'm just praying I don't get it. I haven't had the stomach flu since the 7th grade!

Anyway, my little man seems to be coming out of this slowly but surely. He drank four ounces of formula and hasn't puked it up yet! woo hoo.

Thanks for caring, you guys.

Hi Kellie,

I was just wondering how your little man is doing? What did the

doctor have to say about it? We just got over the flu here in our

house and it was a mess. My ped didn't prescribe an antibiotic for

the flu, but he did prescribe meds to help eleviate the symptoms (we

had a horrible hacking couch and really green noses) Luckliy, the

kids only vomited once each, but then they were running out the other

end a lot (sorry) and we lived on the Pedialyte pops, myself

included. For some reason, we don't like the pedialyte juice, but

love the pops! I hope gets better real soon, its the pits

watching your kid be sick!
