Guest guest
, please try to not focus on the pounds really. I only seen 4 pounds a month my first year. The second year it was more like what you are getting. But, they do add up. And if you just focus on making this a life style, you won't crave your old one. The more you practice the new life style, it will become habbit. Just think of this as a journey not a race to the finish line. And stop and smell the roses. In other words try to find things you like about your new life style, and focus on those, and not what you can't change. As long as you are doing your best, your body will eventually release the weight. It will. Just keep on doing your best. in NY >From: <sandra.mygroup@...> >Date: Mon May 01 17:20:37 CDT 2006 >100-plus <100-plus > >Subject: the month of April

When I started I told everyone I wanted to go slow and lose slowly so I would learn new habits and make this a change for life. Well I'm going slow alright. LOL I'm not concerned with making it a race, I just would like to see 1 pound a week to keep my spirits up so I don't get discouraged. As long as I am seeing something...I'll be happy. Feburary and March was ok. I lost, not fast, but I did see results. April was horrible. I intend to see that May is different. LOL One pound a week is all I am aiming for. I know I can do it. I just hope I do do it. Visit my weight loss journal.
Guest guest
>This last year I only lost 8 pounds. For the entire year!! lol haha Let's see, from Jan 2005 to Jan 2006 I gained about 15 pounds, while sticking to my food plan but not getting that much exercise. It's only when I ignore the " eat to satisfaction " rules of the McDougall plan that I'll lose weight, so thorughout the year I went up and down and up and down. Today, I'm only 3 pounds higher than Jan 2004 but 4 pounds less than April 1, 2006 >She said, wow you lost a lot of weight this year Even when I lost 45 pounds I looked the same, because my weight comes off and on in the weirdest places, like in my back, my feet and thighs, and other places that aren't that noticable. That's also why I stayed the same clothing size even when I was 220 or as high as 296. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Re: Re: the month of April I do hope you can make the 1 pound that you want. But, really try not to focus on it. oh but that so hard to do! Its almost like telling me not to breathe. LOLThis last year I only lost 8 pounds. For the entire year!! lol haha So that was less then a pound a month. However, I had a friend visiting, and she seen a pic of me last year. And she thought it was from 2 years ago! I told her no, that was just last years pic. She said, wow you lost a lot of weight this year (she hadn't seen me in person for about 3 years). I said no, I only lost 8 pounds. She said....she couldn't believe it, it looked more like 30. So sometimes, we are just losing inches and not pounds, and don't even realise it. I know I didn't realize I looked that different with 8 pounds. And that was a year.I just fear seeing no more progress then that , that i will give up and quit. I know its gonna take time and effort. And I do truly feel better now then I did before. But, like I said, I just don't worry about it any more. I just focus on what I like about my new life style. And to tell you the truth it's become foriegn to me to live any other way. I can't even remember half the time what I used to eat on a regular basis! lol haha haha Oh We always eat fairly regular. If I end up going a hour 1/2 to 2 hours past our normal eating time I'll start getting weak, and nervous and just simply have to eat. I don't have to have a lot even a very small meal will do but it has to be somewhere around my normal eating times. You can do it! Sounds like you have a good attitude. And I am not saying you are asking too much. I really understand wanting to lose at least some! I really do! I went for about 6 months at least last year with no weight loss at all!You must have good will power. I am sorry to say I think I would have given up. So, I can relate. But, I just reminded myself. That it didn't really matter any more. My better health right now is what matters. AND that I am "healthy" right now. Sure I'm still obese. But, as far as my drs go, I'm very healthy now. Where before, I was in poor poor shape. I shudder to think where I would be in ten years, if I was still on the path I was. I think this is one thing that does keep me going. Thinking about the size I would be in 5 years if I don't do something now!
Guest guest
Yes, I eat at a special time each day too. Every 2 hours. lol What I meant, is I don't remember what I used to eat that was unhealthy. I can't remember what I used to cook. I remember a lot of frozen lasagna's but surely we had more then that! lol haha I eat all different things now. I try to keep it fun, and enjoyable. But, you can do it. Just remember to stick to it, because you like this way of life, more then about the pounds. Like I said before, try to focus on the positives, and it will get your through the platues. And like you said, focusing on what you can look like in 5 years. But, really focus on the 5 years, of looking soooo much better, instead of the contrast! >From: <sandra.mygroup@...> >Date: Thu May 04 14:44:04 CDT 2006 >100-plus >Subject: Re: Re: the month of April > Re: Re: the month of April >I do hope you can make the 1 pound that you want. I'm just not sure I measure in the exact same spot each time so as a result I'm really not sure when I'm losing and when I'm not.Sometimes it will say I'm losing inches on most areas and at the same time my hips says it is bigger.I don't know....I am just trying to continue to eat better and less and move more and hope eventually I will get to where I am wanting to be. Guest guest
>don't you get discourged? Sure! The old-timers here can attest to that fact. But I keep plugging away. Some day my cfs might magically vanish and I'll have all the energy in the world. Soon I should be through the peri-menopause period and into menopasue and my body will realize it doesn't need the estrogen and the fat that it's stored in. Hopefully some day I *will* be able to exercise for an hour or more a day and not injure myself in turn and will continue to exercise that much - or more - for months and years at a time. Gotta keep that carrot dangling! LOL > I'm just not sure I measure in the exact same spot each time so as a result I'm really not sure when I'm losing and when I'm not. My measurements differ every so slightly month to month, but I know the waist is measured at the same place each month - that's where the fat is dented in by the elastic waistbands. Hip measurement is 8 inches down from that, at the fattest part, and the chest measurement is always at the part where the breast meets the chest wall. I'm sure if I bothered to measure things like upper arms, thighs, calves, even foot circumference I'll see many changes and then I, too, can post things like " I lost 10 inches this month " when all I really lost is a half inch in 20 different places. Guest guest
I don't really get discouraged, because I focus on what I like about my new life style. And also focus on, how things used to be, and how I don't want to go back to that life again! (bed ridden, tired, not going any where!) And I just pretty much focus on how fun this life style is. Really when you find the healthy foods you like to eat, a exercise you like to do and stick with it, it's fun. A lot more fun then any junk food out there taste! >From: <sandra.mygroup@...> >Date: Thu May 04 15:04:20 CDT 2006 >100-plus >Subject: Re: Re: the month of April don't you get discourged?
