Unless things are different in your town/city than in mine, noone is going to pay what you want for the stuff. You would be much more blessed to do what you suggested: the homeless shelter or if there is a women's/children's center, fabulous. Another suggestion: freecycle. If you have one in your area. I have done that a lot. See what friends and family want, then just give the rest away. That's me. I love going to garage sales, just hate the work of organizing and holding one.... Guest guest
Yay ! Glad your feet are feeling so good in the new shoes Isn't it amazing how much difference that makes? I think writing it in a calendar is a fantastic idea--I'll have to do that, too! Sounds like you've had a great day so far--hope it continues to go well for you! It's beautiful here, too. We've been doing our spring cleaning. I haven't weeded out clothes in ages and I'm getting rid of stacks and stacks of baby boy clothes--any advice? I'm thinking about trying to do my first garage sale...is it worth it? Almost everything I have is clothes--newborn and up. Everything's in really good condition. I would just be so upset if I go through all the trouble of washing, folding, and sorting only to make like $15. *laugh* Sorry, that's not worth it. I dunno, just toying with the idea right now. Might all wind up at the homeless shelter and/or Goodwill by nightfall. -Bonnie
Guest guest
I usually donate my used stuff to our church's thrift shop. Or to Goodwill. If it baby stuff, you might want to consider an emergency pregnancy center, a homeless shelter, a shelter for abused women/families. When we lived in Omaha, every year my kids would have a candy sale as a fund raiser at their school. I usually ended up being the one that bought all of it -- but didn't want all that candy in the house. I would end up taking it to the Open Door Mission -- a homeless shelter that also had abused women/family shelter. brgk44 <brgk44@...> wrote: Yay ! I *finally* caved and got a new pair of walking shoes and orthotics. OHMYGOSH I couldn't believe it when I went to put my shoes on this a.m. and my inserts were so thrashed. I don't know why it surprises me, I have literally walked almost 86K steps since I got the other ones....thinking I am going to have to put on my calendar (LOL) to buy new shoes and orthotics every 3 months on the nose. Anyway, it is a BEAUTIFUL day here in Washington state (at least in Spokane) and I got up, had my breakfast, etc and went straight to Curves. Then, to Walmart to do some grocery shopping, so that got in a "fair" walk so far today (hey, it isn't even noon yet)....Lots of hope left in the day! Need to do chores, errands and studying (Real Estate Law) although it is interesting, it is having a hard time holding my interest on the weekends....especially with the sunshine raging outside!! Might have to wait til sundown tonight to study LOL! Hope you all have a great weekend!! Get some fresh air, etc!! Live, Love, Laugh
Guest guest
> LOL... I *finally* caved and got a new pair of walking shoes and orthotics. I had to get new shoes last week - my old ones just fell apart on my while wearing them. I wore my spare pair at first, but I think they're a bit too snug, which is why I wound up with blisters and a black nail. My new shoes are nice and loose so no more squished toes. My custom orthotic is starting to fall apart, and my podiatrist said the next time I go in (May 11) he'll take them from me and send them in to be re-habbed. I hope they fix them quick, as I really came to depend on them. I'll have to pick up a pair of Spencos to hold me over until they're ready. > Anyway, it is a BEAUTIFUL day here in Washington state We had a rainy weekend, but otherwise Ed's entire vacation had the most gorgeous weather! >Need to do chores, errands I have so much houswork to catch up on it's not funny. At least I got the laundromat over with nice and early, as well as some exercise. Now I'm busy doing all the annoying things between emails, and this afternoon I'll get some tai chi and strength training in. and studying (Real > Estate Law) although it is interesting, I was enrolled in a realtor course when we lived in FL. The sections of the book on RE law are so confusing! I never bothered to look into a similar course when we got back to Jersey.
