Guest guest
Bonnie - Good luck. Years and years ago I went to Consumer Credit Counseling and they told me to come back when I made more money or owed less!! So I just did it myself (found a better-paying job, etc.). Anyway, I know that kind of stress. My throat used to close up when I'd lay down to go to sleep - I'd end up sleeping sitting up. Ugh. Hopefully, you'll straighten this out today and will be able to get some good sleep tonight. Let us know how it turns out. - Mayabrgk44 <brgk44@...> wrote: I was on top of the world yesterday morning, having broke my plateauand all that. Then the boys were both grumpy and on top of that, mymom came to visit. Normally it's great when she's here, but the kidswere wearing on her (that's saying a lot...she thinks they walk onwater) and quite honestly, both boys were stomping on my last nerve bynoon. I managed to stay on plan, though...until after Connor's teeball game, and after my mom left, when I listened to our messages andgot one from 'debt free america'. I have two friends and a cousin who used them to get out of cc debtand there's no big trick or secret, they just work with the cc's tolower your interest. It's free. So a while back, we signed upbecause I just want to pay them off as quickly as possible. Okay, fine. They took the first payment out of our account Wednesday and itwas quite a chunk (to do this as fast as possible, it's neccessary, though). Well, yesterday there's a message saying that some of thepaperwork didn't get there, so they can't send the money out to thecc's. Um...WHAT?! Number one, the paperwork was there over a monthago--otherwise, they never would have let us start with the automaticwithdrawals. Number two, what the hell were they doing taking moneyout of our account if it *isn't* all in order? So I called them rightback and guess what? The office was closed. The message said that ifwe don't get the paperwork to them *today*, the payments won't be sentout and we'll need to 'take care of it ourselves'. Um, we gave THEMthe money we would have normally used to 'take care of it ourselves'(more than what we'd normally use, too), so if we have to do that, Ihonestly don't know what we'll do for food/diapers/etc for the nexttwo weeks. So I tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't sleep. Thought I'd get onhere and blow off some steam, but the internet was down. Wentdownstairs to watch some tv and wound up eating in front of the tv andit just wasn't good. And at that point, I was over-tired, pissed off,and grabbed anything that sounded relatively good. Then I got mad atmyself because 99% of the time, I work through stress in other waysnow. I catch myself in time. And I did last night...as I wasgrabbing a bowl of cereal, I thought, "Is this how I want to deal withit? I've done so well, why would I blow it over this?" and you know, then I answered myself with, "Forget it--I'm tired, I'm hungry and I'meating, darn it!" Bleh. Wound up with raging heartburn (haven'teaten past 7pm in months), nausea, and other bad digestive problems, and finally fell to sleep around 5AM only to wake up exhausted at 7. *sigh* Today I get to deal with calling debt free america and tryingto keep my wits about me while the boys run around and I try tostraighten this mess out.Wish me luck.-Bonnie(who is going to do 45 minutes of step aerobics now in hopes ofstarting the day off in a better mood ) __________________________________________________

Good luck. You do know it may ruin your credit rating to go with them. It's almost like declaring bankruptcy.
Guest guest
I have read that...but it depends on the creditors. My cousin said nothing ever showed up on her credit reports about it and my friends said the same thing. All of them got out of debt in two-three years because of how much lower the interest rates were once they signed on. I've called our two creditors and neither one reports to the credit bureaus unless a payment is missed or late--they don't care who pays it, as long as it gets paid. *shrugs* So I think it's a your-mileage-may-vary kind of thing. We didn't rush into this decision at all...we have good credit, so didn't want to ruin it by doing this, we just have gotten sick to death of debt and the cc's wouldn't give us lower rates without transferring balances and playing all those games. I don't know...guess we'll wait and see what happens. -Bonnie > Good luck.
