Guest guest
Hi - Just wanted to let you know that we have a locally made helmet for Grace and she has been in it almost a month and the results already are fantastic. The head is rounding out so nicely in the back and the side that she has the torticollis on where her head drifted is also molding back into shape. I cannot wait to see how beautiful it will turn out as more time goes by. We did not have the option of the DOCband or STARband at the childrens hospital where her helmet was made but her orthotist has done many of these and you can tell what an expert he is. Everyone in the group told me to make sure of the qualifications and how often they make the helmets etc. And I tell you that makes a big difference. In fact her head is rounding out so nicely in the back that when it started to first take shape I was so used to it being flat that I thought something was wrong with her head and it was just the head rounding out like the rest of us!! Good luck! - and Grace
Guest guest
, Check out the orthotist very carefully. Ask to see before/after pictures, find out how long he/she has been working with the product, ask if he/she has any references. The more information you can find out about the orthos experience and skill level specifically with the helmet and infants the better the chances of success. If you have any doubt at all about the orthos experience it's best to keep on looking. My daughter wore a locally made helmet for $700 and we had very good luck with it. The ortho we used was outstanding and he made the difference. Good luck and let us know which way you decide to go.
