Guest guest
Debi that sounds like bull to me-get a letter from the DR's stating medical necessity either way and you can always have that for back up-if you got the preapproval and the second call verified approval then I say you have a good fight on your hands. And as we all know that experimental stuff is crap. Try the advocate site maybe they can help you and appeal appeal appeal don't give up because yous hould win this hands down! Guest guest
Debi, My policy read the same way. DME was covered if it was medically necessary and not experimental. My insurance co denied based on not meically necessary and then at the very, very, very end threw in that it was also experimental. You can fight it either way. The STARband is FDA approved which should help speak to the experimental issue (if it comes up) - do you have a letter of medical necessity? If you do then you should be able to speak to the medically necessary part. If not, try to get one from your specialist and ped if possible. Good luck and I think this is a battle you can win. Stick to your guns and go through the entire appeals process. You still have things you can do after the appeals are over if necessary.
