Guest guest
Hi, I'm in Virginia, Mom to 3 mos. old and new to the group. I became aware of s misshaped head at about 10 weeks of age when I viewed him from above as he sat on my lap. It took me a while to notice, because from the front and sides, his head looked perfectly round. After noticing the flat spot on one side, I figured I would mention it to the Pediatrition at his appt the following week. By the time his appt came, s right ear was already out of alignment. By the time of his CT Scan 3 days later, his ear had moved further forward, his cheek and forehead on that side were already starting to puff out, and his eye was looking odd. It is now 3 days after the CT scan and thankfully it seems the changes have slowed down. I have been hovering over him like a hawk trying to keep his head turned or propped the opposite way that it wants to fall. Its quite a challenge! He's a very curious, alert baby and wants to constantly turn and squirm to see everything, then cant always get his head back where it was. I found this group the nite before the CT scan, and from here found the Plagiocephaly.org website. I am so thankful for all the wonderful advice and stories I have been reading. I truly believe that without the info and tips I have found here, s head would have continued to get worse. So a big Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to everyone! I now feel that I can go into the discussion with the Dr tommorow and not only feel confident that I understand what is being said, but that I can make educated decisions about s healthcare. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. I am glad you found this group too. Although the people here are not doctors, you sure get alot of information. Like you said, now you can feel you know what your talking about. Unfortunatly, it seems not alot of doctors know what they are talking about when it comes to this subject. (pediatricians). Dont get me wrong, There are alot of really good peds outthere, just not informed enough about plagio. I have been sending my pedi info and pics of band treatment so he can help other patients in the future. Good luck with the repositioning.
