Guest guest
{Thanks, for the support. I know that it's nothing personal, but it's just so frustrating and it just seems like they should care more, especially when they are dealing with children. } Debi I too felt at my wits end...Leigha was first denied while we were getting used to the fact that she was going to need surgery in a few months. Then the second denial came the day after Leigha's surgery and the third denial a week after we had her banded. It strikes a nerve with me that some moron who sometimes doesn't even have a RN licence can look in a book and find a way to deny a treatment then argue with a specialtist why the treatment isn't needed...just to save a few bucks. It doesn't matter if its children or elders they will screw anyone over all in the name of the mighty dollar. Keep on fighting and don't be afraid to pull every dirty trick you can - I started to step over the insurances head and threatened to take it to their state contact...Marci can fill you in on what thats like. {I am in La Cygne, about an hour south. But I work in Kansas City Kansas, so I'm in " the city " almost every day. It's nice to meet another person from my area. I noticed that you went with the DOC band. I didn't even know that they offered those in the KC area. That's one reason we used the STARBand. Not that we're unhappy with our choice. I was just happy to see another person from the KC area who had gone a different way. I looked on your web site and Mikey was also seen at Children's Mercy, but not for cranio. That must have been so hard for you guys to go through. } Wow it is so neat to meet someone close by. I ran into one gal a couple of weeks ago that had her son in a DOC band but other than a brief talk about when he'd be graduating it didn't amount to an instant friendship or anything. Leighas dr. sent us to Rehab designs of America on Troost in Kansas city for the DOC band. They now have a clinic in Children's mercy(figures after we are all through with the band) - the funny thing is I had no idea they had a Starband maker nearby. I was thrilled with Leigha's DOC band and I am well aware that some arguments arive on which is better but all I know is our own experiance. We did have a tough time with Leigha, words can not describe the complex emotions that I still sometimes experiance. I am so very thankful that Children's mercy was so close and that we found such a wonderful doctor. My son was in Children's Mercy while I was pregnant with Leigha and I was throughly impressed with them...but nothing can compair to the respect I formed for all the staff there after Leigha's ordeal. If I ever win the lotto I know they'll get a big chunk of my winnings. It was hard on us but I believe we all are better people today from the ordeal...after all its the tough things in life that help you enjoy the good times. you're welcome and keep in touch its nice to know someone close by.
