Helmets & Tugging at ears/Colds

Hi,

My son has been in his helmet now for 3 1/2 months. The past month

and a half he always sticks his fingers in his ears when we take the

helmet off. He was sick about a month ago and had a fever so we took

him to the doctor, it turned out he had an ear infection. We gave

him antibiotics and it seemed to clear up. I thought the reason he

was tugging at his ears was due to the ear infection rather than the

helmet. Just yesterday, he had a runny nose and seems to be getting

another cold and is tugging at his helmet and his ears. I took his

temperature and it was normal so I don't think he has an infection.

I'm a first time mom and am not sure what the problem might be. Does

anyone have any advice or input? My other question is what do you do

when your child has a temperature..do you take the helmet off?
