Guest guest
My son was born breech at 38 weeks. They did a c-section because of him being breech and he was on the large side, 9 lbs. at birth. I don't even want to think about how big he would have been if they had decided to let me go 40 weeks. They only delivered at 38 weeks because I had preeclampsia. I have heard of babies being breech almost up to a few weeks before birth and then turning into the proper position. Good luck. Guest guest
Oh dear Beck!!! I'm glad to hear you're all OK! Apparently I was a "breech" baby who was very stubborn. My Mom had to go get me turned around every week. I was born in the right position. Not sure how the whole story went, but I guess it's possible to turn babies! Or maybe they don't do it anymore??? Who knows! Kendra Re: OFF TOPIC- breech My son was born breech at 38 weeks. They did a c-section because of him being breech and he was on the large side, 9 lbs. at birth. Guest guest
Beck, I am so glad that every one is doing fine! Didn't anyone ever tell you to lay off the gymnastics in the last trimester? Seriously though, thank God you're all ok! Danny was breeched throughout most of my pregnancy, which was the perfect position to be in when he wanted to kick his sister in the head (we saw him doing that during an ultrasound, who knew sibling rivalry started so soon?) Anyway, the advice I was given was to firmly but gently rub your belly downward while envisioning the baby turning into the correct position. It may sound corny, but it was very relaxing. And I never tried this one because it sounded weird, but I read that you can shine a flashlight at your 'yonder region' (keeping it G-rated here), and the baby will supposedly head for the light. Danny eventually turned around at 28 weeks to be head down, but by 30 weeks he was breeched again. I have no idea where he found the room to do all this with Kaylie in there too! My OB was wonderful and knew that I was terrified to have a Csection, so he promised me that as long as neither of us were in distress, he would do whatever he could to turn Danny around. We were concerned because Kaylie was the smaller twin and would not be able to stretch the path far enough to make it easier for Danny. By the time Kaylie was born and handed off to a NICU doctor to be evaluated, my doctor looked down and there were Danny's feet. Danny was born breeched 2 minutes after Kay, perfectly healthy and raring to go. Good luck Beck. I'm just so relieved that you're all ok! Take it easy, you're almost done! Guest guest
Dane was breech until about week 32 or 34. My midwife gave me some exercises to do and he turned right away. Here are a few that I remember: 1. Stand with your legs apart and rock back and forth and twist your hips. 2. Spread your feet a couple of feet, bend over and stick your bootie in the air and move it around in circles. I felt the most movement from this. 3. Get a birth ball (theraball). Sit on it and rotate your hips in a circle. Hope you had as much luck as I did. Glad you're okay! -- In Plagiocephaly@y..., bbbhand@a... wrote: > Hey anyone have experience with turning a breech baby around??? Guest guest
Beck, Glad to hear you are all doing fine. My daughter was in a breech position. About 1 1/2 weeks before my due date, I went to the hospital (as an outpatient) to attempt a " version " . That is when they literally try to turn the baby around inside you. They work on your belly externally. They do a very extensive sonogram first. A doctor and nurse actually worked on my belly together while I had a continious sonogram. in my case, it didn't work. I will tell you this, not to scare you, but it does hurt. The pain goes away as soon as they stop touching you. Also, it's very hard psycholigically to have your belly worked on after you have protected it for so long. I do know some people that it worked for. I had low amniotic fluid which made it hard for the baby to " glide " into another person. But, my husband and I know she was " stuck " under my ribs for a long while. I went in for a schedul C-section 2 days before my due date. It all worked out fine. does have tort since she was so twisted for so long and I had low fluid. She was more then twisted. Each tech couldn't believe how twisted she was. they kept calling her a pretzel. It'll all be fine. Good luck and keep us posted!
