Guest guest
Hi Guys! Logan has had his STARband for nearly a week. We had to go back the very next day because it was slipping off his head. So our ortho placed " grippers " at the bottom of the band. Last night was the first night he wore it all night and it left a strawberry by his left eye. We have to go back on Friday for another adjustment. So far it doesn't bother him too much just a lot of sweating. We're hoping for a growth spurt soon. He had just had one before he got the band. On tuesday took Logan in for his checkup and she (our ped)thought his head already looked rounder but to be honest I think it's too soon to tell. It was our Physical therapist that suggested the helmet. Our ped never ever mentioned plagio to us until I brought it up. On a positive note though i think his eye asymmetry is looking better. So it's a start! Sara(Logan's mom) OK
Guest guest
Sara, Good to hear that things are going well for Logan! Luckily you live fairly close so going in for adjustments doesn't mean a 2 -3 hour drive! Hopefully your ped will have learned something from this experience and other babies in her care will be treated for plagio when necessary in the future. It does seem soon to already see improvement, however, some parents notice changes within 1 to 2 weeks. It all depends on the baby! Good luck and the sweating will decrease over the first few weeks. ;-) Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Sara: Things sound to be going pretty good! That's great. The 1st week or 2 usually require a few trips back to the orthotist for adjustments to get that perfect fit. It is possible you've seen improvement already. It seems so hard to beleive but there could be some rounding already! Now feed Logan some spinach to get him growing Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hi Guys! Guest guest
, OMG! I'm relieved to hear he is okay....... and that you like this cast. Honestly, it doesnt matter how many times you have to get your child anesthetized (sp?), it never gets less scary. I am very fortunate that nothing similar has happened to Olivia, but am always petrified when she gets wheeled into the OR. Its one of the most frighteneng things a parent could experience...every time. Welcome back. HRH update on Logan > Logan got his 2nd cast on yesterday and it was quite a scare. While he > was under the anestesia his o2 saturation went down to the low 50s. > And they got him back up by giving him more anestesia.
