Guest guest
Jackie, Listen...Don't get stressed over that weight gain. I can assure you it is from the prednisone your doctor prescribed for you. Call your doctor for assurance. My hubby was on prednisone and it does cause weight gain. So that weight gain may not be from messing up on your diet. Stay on plan and keep going the way you did before you got on prednisone. As soon as your doctor takes you off it you should see that weight leave. Most of the time doctors get you back off prednisone as soon as possible. Guest guest
Welcome, Jacki! I'm Bonnie, I stay home to raise two little boys and I joined this group back in January or February. I'm 5'8 " and started out at 338 pounds last September. I'm down just over 75 pounds now thanks to lots of exercise and journaling my food intake/counting calories. > I know how I > need to eat in order to lose weight but it is always convenient to > stop and get something that is not good for me. < I think we all know how to do it by now...it's just a matter of following through! It's so hard, especially with fast food on every corner. *sigh* > So I left his office > that day and went to the grocery store and brought salad fixings, > fruits and Slimfast shakes and bars. That after noon I started my > diet. I didn't even wait until the next day. < This is amazing to me! If it were me, I probably would've gotten depressed and picked up a bag of donuts on the way home (I wish I was kidding). Really, you ought to be proud of yourself--you decided to take it into your own hands and you did just that > noticed a new diet center in town called Ideal Weight loss, I called > them and went in that afternoon for a free consultation. I know a gain is never a good thing, but try and relax. You're on a steroid and you've been a bit 'off plan'. You'll lose it quickly once you're back on, I bet. > I felt like my life was over and I just over > did it yesterday. Guest guest
Jackie Welcome to our group. What is the name of the weight loss place you joined? And what diet do you follow? Guest guest
Hi Jackie I had 124 pounds to losee, 96 now. I'm asthmatic. I was diagnosed and first treated a couple of years ago. The first course of treatment, because my lungs were so congested, were antibiotics and Prednisone. I've had to take several rounds since, for my lungs, and for an onset of Vasculitis, which has left my feet and legs horribly scarred. The first time I took the prednisone, I'd just begun a weightloss program and had lost about 25 pounds. On the Pred, I found out I couldnt stop eating. I was REALLY lucky that I didn't gain but about 5 pounds on it, but I did gain some back. The next times I had to take it, I just had to strengthen my resolve and stick with my program irregardless of how my body felt. I stopped gaining on Prednisone. I drink a lot of water so the water weight it tends to make one gain hasn't been a problem, but sleeping has. Now the only thing the doc has to remember is to prescribe me a sleeping pill when he prescribes the pred, it makes me so anxious I can't sleep. I hope you don't have to keep taking this stuff, it's horrible. In time it'll mess up your teeth, you could get Vasculitis like I did and that is a nightmare. I would NEVER consider surgery for my weightloss. For one thing, and ever since I've heard about this surgery it's been in my mind, it's not a fix, it's a QUICK fix. It's also life threatening. At least your doctor talks to you about weight loss, I told mine when I had the episode with Pred that I was trying to lose weight and all I got was a blank stare and a mumbled 'that's fine'. Just stay strong and keep with your program. You're bound to slip, you didn't get heavy overnight you're not going to get thin overnight, and old habits are hard to break. You can do it, we're right behind you! avonladync2003 <avonladync2003@...> wrote: I joined the group this morning when I woke up around 4AM and started seaching for weight loss groups and couldn't go back to sleep. Here is my story. My name is Jackie, and I seem liked I have always been on a diet. I would lose the weight and then I gained it back. That is my life story. Last May, 2005 I went to the doctor because I was having some fluid retention and I was having a hard time breathing. He put me on some fluid pills and talked to me about gastric bypass surgery, he thought it would be best if I would consider doing it since my weight was at 273. That just hit me in the wrong way. I know how I need to eat in order to lose weight but it is always convenient to stop and get something that is not good for me. So I left his office that day and went to the grocery store and brought salad fixings, fruits and Slimfast shakes and bars. That after noon I started my diet. I didn't even wait until the next day. The doctor wanted me to come back in 2 weeks to see him and let him know my decision about the surgery. I never went back to that appt. So I stuck with the Slimfast diet and lost some weight about 20 lbs before going back to him in Nov. He was happy with my weight loss, but I wanted to lose more. So I made it through the holidays and recommitted to my diet Jan 1. I did good but, it seems no matter what I did I was losing a few lbs and gaining it back. I knew I need a change if I was ever going to lose this weight. As I was out doing errands one day I noticed a new diet center in town called Ideal Weight loss, I called them and went in that afternoon for a free consultation. I joined their center for 6 months for $129. That was the best $129 I have ever spent. I joined March 3 2006 and have been there since. I weighed 247 that day and I am happy to say as of this past Monday my weight was 199. But yesterday I had a major diet meltdown. I went to the doctor on Friday and he put me on Predisone for 12 days. This has been a miserable week for me. I had my eating under control until he put me on the medicine to get the inflammation out of my knee. But since Monday I have had cravings that I haven't had for a while, and I didn't like the feeling I was having. So yesterday, I weighed in again and gained 2 lbs. I felt like my life was over and I just over did it yesterday. Me and a friend went to lunch I had a salad, but just the thoughts of gaining that weight just made me sick. My friend is a girl who has a weight problem too, and she has lost over 102 lbs. I need her yesterday to motivate me to get back focus. She is so amazed how much weight I have lost since March 3. Guest guest
Thanks ! The name of the diet center I go to is Ideal Weight loss. They open last Nov. It is a Independent own, it is 2 sisters that open the center. The diet I do is bascailly eating regulat food. Low carb, is what I started out with. eating 2 eggs in the morning with a slice of toast. For lunch salad with freah veggies and 6 oz of meat and the same for dinner. They have nutritional supplements such as drinks, soups, puddings and bars that you can purchase that is loaded with protien. The supplements are not that bad. Here is the website where you can purchase the different supplements http://cntr4weightloss.stores..net/ JackieJase4567@... wrote: Jackie Welcome to our group.
