Guest guest
Sub: Information on ARV training activities to measure the global impact of training initiatives. As part of the WHO 3 by 5 initiative, Training and Certification Consultation,(http://www.who.int/3by5/training/en/) we would like to collect information on ARV related training activities to date in a first attempt to measure the global impact of training initiatives. This information will be presented in print form at the consensus meeting on June 2 and 3 and also at the AIDS Conference in Bangkok. We are interested in information on ARV training activities that your organization has been involved in since the beginning of 2001. In general, we are looking for training institutions that have trained people specifically in ARVs (not prevention, general care, etc). Please note that we are only focusing on training that enables people to take on a meaningful role in ART delivery (so, not general VCT training for instance, PMCTC, general AIDS care, or general ART information). We would like to know: a) How many of what cadres involved in ART you have trained (physicians and clinical officers; nurses and midwifes; other health care workers and lay staff in clinical settings; ART counselors; lab technicians and staff; pharmacy / dispensing staff; programme managers; community treatment supporters; other staff (including record keepers). On what basis (please give timeframe for trainings and main content areas if possible) c) Coming from what countries and d) In what timeframe The attached table in Word format can be used to input these data. Any additional information is of course highly appreciated We are looking for small write-ups of " success stories " , examples of training programmes in different contexts that have been particularly successful or where important lessens were learned. Because we would like to prepare a summary for the consultation meeting in June, it would be appreciated if you could send the information before May 14. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
