Guest guest
Hi Everyone!! Just wanted you all to know that I got some news that I didn't really want to hear. 's orthotist called me yesterday afternoon and told me he spoke with 's PT about possibly "graduating" 's helmet therapy to just naps and at night time. Well he said that he would like to be in his helmet until at least he is 14 mos. old (on March 25th). He turned 1 year on Jan. 25th. He said that they have done studies and they can still get significant molding well past one year. (I think we all know that by now anyway.) Even though he has received about 90% correction, he feels we can go the extra 2 mos. and get even better correction. I guess we've come this far ( was banded 08/22/01) -- what's a couple more months. It is just very disappointing because his PT got our hopes all up. We should not have said anything to anyone, but we were so excited about his pending graduation day, now when people ask we have to explain the whole situation to them. Our orthotist was kind of upset that the PT told us that we would not get much more molding after 12 mos. of age and that 's head looked so good that she couldn't see the need for him to continue to wear the band full-time. She called me and apologized for giving me the misinformation (I know that she meant well, but I cried on the phone.) Our orthotist said she really should have spoken to him first, before she got our hopes all up!! Anyway we are back in the helmet, full-time, for the next 2 mos. or so. Sorry this was so long. AnnMarie and (12 mos.) STARbanded -- 08/22/01 PS -- To All and esp. to Niki -- I have been contacted by Orthoamerica (makers of the STARband) they want to put 's picture on their website. They said they have pics of your two children on there -- how great!!! They emailed me a release form and I signed it and faxed it back to them. So hey everyone -- go to www.orthoamerica.com and check our little ones!!!
Guest guest
AnnMarie: I am sure you're disappointed & are more than ready for to be graduated, but like you said, you've come this far! It really will go by fast & could still get more correction (my daughter rec'd 50% correction after she was one in her DOCband). I'll have to check out 's pics on the Orthomerica's website, is he added already or not yet? - I already saw Niki's cuties . Guest guest
AnnMarie, Don't worry about it - we totally understand how these things can happen! wore her band until she was 15.5 months and we got a lot of correction in the last few months. The time will pass quickly and maybe you will hit that 100% mark - wouldn't that be wonderful?! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
AnnMarie, I can imagine how frustrated you must have felt when your ortho told you that will wear his band for awhile longer. However, that is great that your ortho is so knowledgeable about getting more correction after the age of 12 months. Each day that is in his band is another day that his head is rounding. The time will fly right on by and before you know it, you'll be posting about 's graduation. I can't wait to see 's pictures at Orthomerica's webpage for the All STAR team! I was so excited when I got the email from Dulcey that the twins' pictures were finally up there. I'm such a proud mommy! Hang in there AnnMarie, this will all be over before you know it! Guest guest
Debbie, I just thought I would let you know that 's pics will not be on the Orthomerica's website until he is officially graduated. That, hopefully, will be at the end of March (when he 14 mos.). I will post it when he is on there. Thanks in advance for checking him out!!
