Guest guest
I broke a tooth on sun and by Tues i was in serious pain with it. I woke up Tues night with severe pain in my right side, my back and my mouth on fire. I made an apt with the dentist on Wed and found out two of my wisdom teeth had to come out- yippeee... I had a wrestling match with teh dentist, or atleast my jaw did. Anyway, i had two wisdome teeth removed and was sent home. It was a good thing for the diet thouch cuz i sure wasnt motivated to eat a lot. LOL buuuuuut, a minor lil problem came up and by thurs my mouth was hurtin so bad. I went to class but it hurt to talk or eat, for tha day I ate some soup and that was it. By Fri morning i could barely swallow and my mouth was is some serious pain. I coudlnt move my neck or touch my chin even wihtout some major pain. I had an apt to see the dr. about the pain in my side and he saw how much pain i was in with my mouth so he checked it out. He winced and said my whole mouth was infected!!!! And here i was feelin bad for bein such a baby about the pain... I'm soooo glad he caught it in time before it went further down my neck and throat. And the antibiotics are already kickin in and i can tell a HUGE difference! Sooo, though i sure am not eager to repeat this lil experience, it was handy for not overeating. LOL In fact, my scale shows that I'm down five pounds this week... buuuuut that leads me to my question. question: I went to the dr two weeks ago to make sure that my home scale and the clinic scale matched. The nurse said that we had to use the downstairs scale, which i'd never been on, and assured me that the numbers were the same. So I went home and immediately weighed in at home and put the scale on the same numbers... All the weigh-ins for the last two weeks have been done on my home scale. According ot my home scale I'd lost two pounds last week and was down to 295 on Tues, but yesterday at the dr. his scale- back to the original one now- showed that i was at 298. GRRR I don't know which one to believe. It throws all my weigh-in's off. I weighed in just now, and show that I lost 5lbs this week and am at 290. It seems unlikely that i had 8lbs of swelling in my face and neck. I know I lost weight, which also makes sense with only being able to eat 3baked potatoes and 2 cans of soup since wed night BUT how do i know what's tha real weight? How can I know what to celebrate... other than being able to eat and swallow again. HAAAAA

But like you say....look on the bright side, It's almost like instant weight loss. I sure hope you arent in a ton of pain.> > And here i was feelin bad for > bein such a baby about the pain... The time I got mine yanked it hurt clear down to into where my colar bone was. I never had a tooth do that before . I was unsure what the problem was because the actual tooth wasnt really hurting. I was debating on whether to go to the family doc or a dentist. I chose dentist and chose right. He yanked it and I had almost instant relief.> > Sooo, though i sure am not eager to repeat this lil experience, it > was handy for not overeating. HAAAAA> Alll those scales are suppose to be checked by some kind of weight master but we all know half time they arent. I would suggest as others has here to get your own scales and only pay attention to what those scales tell you. Let the doctor weight you and then forget what he said your weight was. Go home and weigh in on your home scales and never look at another scales. You can get too much variation in weights otherwise. Just as even though you will get a big variation in your home scales too. You have to take into consideration of how you weigh. Your clothes may be heavier then the last time. You may have on different shoes. You may have eaten recently. By the way ...did you go pee before you weighed today. All these things do matter. They say it is best to get up from bed, use the bathroom and then weigh bare foot and naked or bare foot with the same nightgown on. etc... The long and tall of it is there are so many things that will make you see a difference in weight. So don't panic to see a difference in weight by as much as 2 or 3 pounds in a day. As long as it don't "Stick" you are ok. I go the thing where I will not count something as a weight loss or gain untill I have maintained it for at least 5-7 days. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

It's now Monday again, and by now those antibiotics should have done their job quite nicely. I hope you're feeling back to normal today. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear you had a bad time with your teeth. I went through pretty much the same thing. I know how bad it must have been. Glad you are feeling better. Nothing hurts more than a toothache. As for your weighins I would take the Dr. with a grain of salt. Don't worry over and go with one or the other. You need to use the same scale. If you choose your home scale then ignore the Dr.'s scale. You can't measure a loss if you don't stick to the same one all the time, as scales vary. If you can't stand to see the numbers on the dr.'s, do what I do, I stand backwards so I don't see them. Then it doesn't drive me nuts that the 2 scales are different. Blessed be,
