Hi,

I personally don't have any experience with the repositioning, but

there are some ideas in the files. You also can go to

www.plagiocephaly.org and they have repositioning ideas also. I'm

sure other ladies here have better advice than me, I am pretty new

to the group. Good luck.

I'm based in the UK and took my 8 month old daughter to see a doctor in London about here palgio which was diagnosed as moderate.

During the discussions I talked to him about re-positioning and his opinion was that he had found in his experience that in 98% of cases it was not very effective.

Now don't panic as that was just his experience and I know he is one of only a very small number of people in Europe who even understand plagio compared to the US where there are loads of specialists. My advice would be take your son along to a specialist and see what their opinion is. If anything it will re-assure you and let you understand what the timescales are for trying re-positioning before looking at other methods.

If I could use repositioning on Tegans head I would do but unfortunately she's a bit active both awake and sleep and favours her flat side. She's also at the limit now for putting a band on (which is happening on the 18 Feb).

I hope that this is inaccurate and that someone can tell me better figures for this.

Good luck with your son - don't worry - I'm new to the group and so far there is a wealth of experience, advice and help in this group. Your also in the best place in the world for help with this.

Hi :

Welcome to our group :). Zachary is at a good younger age to seem

success repositioning. Check out the link Marci gave you for some

good repositioning tips. Most of us in the group, were referred by

our pediatrician to a pediatric neurosurgeon to have our baby's heads

evaluated. If you would be more comfortable having your son

evaluated by a different Dr. than you ped., then I would suggest

getting a referral. For most ped. neuros, the wait is quite long

before they could get Zachary in to be looked at. The average wait

time that I've noticed in the group (myself included) is usually one

month before they could get you in. So if you would feel comfortable

with that, then ask your ped. for a good referral & schedule an

appt.. If you noticed in one month that Zachary's head has improved

from repositioning (hopefully it will) you could always cancel your

appt..

Again, I wanted to welcome you to our group :). Be sure you keep us

updated on Zachary's repositioning. I know it is frustrating trying

to keep them off their flat side. Repositioning unfortunately didn't

help my daughter, but her plagio began in utero and was quite severe

from day 1.

Good luck :)

Debbie,

Hey, that is a great idea to schedule the nuero appt. ahead of time since it takes so long to get in- very clever and a great tip for all those taking the wait and see right now!
