Dear Beck,

Thanks for the concern. Sorry I'm a little slow to reply. Max did

get his DOC band Thursday. It took him about 5 minutes to adjust to

it. My husband & I are still getting used to seeing him in it, but

we

are really happy that we're finally making progress toward a round

head. I'm also glad that I've been reading the postings for this

group as it has helped me be prepared for the slight looseness of the

band. Max's skin is tolerating the band well, however, he moves a

lot

in his sleep & tends to push the band onto this bridge of his nose

while sleeping. He has a little skin irritation there. Tonight I'll

check the band position after he's been asleep a while.

I searched the old posts for painting tips this week.

Despite what their website said, my local s craft store only

had 1 kind of plastic paint which takes 48 hours to cure. I was

determined to find something in the store to decorate Max's band

because every kid we passed in the store whispered to his mother

about

what was on Max's head. I bought some paint pens which say they work

on plastic, dry quickly & are non-toxic. Hopefully they'll work. My

husband's in charge of decorating - he's quite artistic & I'm

artistically challenged.

Eileen,

Good to hear that Max adjusted so quickly! Hooray!! I've heard the paint pens

work really well so that should be a good choice. You could also use some

stickers and then cover them with clear nail polish for a quick decorating

idea.

I'll bet that band will slip around less after the first few weeks. Let us

know how it is going and how the paint pens work.
